This suggestion assumes a couple of things regarding the update of the server so Dexuby , feel free to inform Drogo if they are wrong.

The first assumption is that when the server updates we will all gain the new build height of 319 blocks.
The second assumption is that the additional build height will allow us to build higher. Insert "Duuuh" here.

Drogo suggests that if possible, our current builds all be raised 64 blocks so that they remain the same distance from the current build height. Then we would all be able to build further downwards rather than upwards.

Drogo imagines that most players would not want to build above their current builds as it would block the sun and put them in the dark, so if the extra build height is added above our current builds we gain nothing from it. However if the extra build area is added below, by raising all islands, we can actually use that space to expand downwards.

 

So at the very least we get an extra 64 levels downward. 128 levels downward if builds are raised.

 

Maybe this is my layman's perspective leading me astray but that would probably take a lot of time with world edit, and could produce a ton of problems with entities and what not. Not sure of any other way to do this more efficiently, but again what do I know. Personally I have actually been waiting for the update to do a lot of building above my island with the new space, so if maybe there was a period of a month or two after the update drops where people could request and have their island moved up to that value would be good. Just my thoughts.

 

Wouldn’t expect it on an island by island basis.
If it’s added above and below as it seems then it’s probably fine as it is. I don’t know if many would use the space above too much though.

 

i have no idea how he would move literally millions of islands upwards from where they are currently positioned but im not a developer so god knows how easy or hard it would be but i guess it sounds like a good idea

 

Current plan is to respect the new height limits on 1.19 so -64 to 320 (so -63 to 319 effectively), moving existing islands is not an option.
