i wanted to make a secret door, which requires a player to turn the item in an item frame. the only problem is that if i did that, people could steal the item xD

you should add a setting to allow players to turn item frames, but not take the item

 

that's kinda a niche setting to add

 

its very usefull for redstone builds tho, i just thought about it and it opens a lot of cool options

Drogo used to have a coded door with a 9 digit pin pad. It required a four digit pin, entered in the correct order to open the door. The redstone behind it took up a fair amount of space though. This would simplify such systems.
Could also be done more easily with 4 buttons such that the right number of presses needed to be entered into each button in order to open the door.

 

I feel like people can get really creative with this and I'm all for it.

I am in favor of this being added to both servers. I would personally enjoy tilting all 100 independence tools on Beens 's economy island!

 

One issue Drogo sees is that people will simply use X-ray to see the redstone. They will just turn the item until they see it activate the next mechanism in play, be it an and gate or what ever.
While it might be handy to use for games or something else, Drogo wouldn’t trust it to lock a private area.

If you're not worried about what item is in the frame, then just use arrows. Being non-symmetrical they would be perfect for this. Have a sell chest nearby where people can get them for free in case someone takes them they can just get more.
