Bats are a useless mob that just takes up server resources. Not sure about skyblock but with Eco we need all the resources we can get to help reduce the lag. There is no point of them in the game so why not add an island option to disable them and help reduce the lag.
Gosh I hate it when my framerates drop due to bat spawn rates, they're through the roof (get it cause they're bats).
Honestly I have never had a problem with the "bats". And speaking from when I had my mob spawns on, my island is plenty dark enough for them to spawn. I can speak for anyone else, but seeing this command or option would be quite laughable. So simply that I have never seen a bat other than as a disguise, on my own island, and on many others; I see no reason to add this feature. Although it sure is an interesting concept.

These guys are everywhere. And there the opposite of cute. #BanTheBats (Could have gotten a better picture with more bats but I'm lazy)
bats actually genuinely are annoying. I know they spawn rarely enough that it doesn't matter for most people but an island setting for bats would be nice.
