Hello. My name is Q and I was banned a few days ago because on my island I chose to “resell maparts” (very frown upon) <—- So basically I’ve been very interested in the rules of this server so much. I’ve read the rules many times and am actually very fluent in knowing all the rules. Now with all that said if you peek a the screenshot attached I was banned for a rule That does not exist and instead of letting me do me on my own and free will or warning me I was just strait out I was banned for disrupting gameplay and ruining the ability for people to have fun. Okay so let’s start from the beginning If this is NOT A RULE I believe that this server is being ran very very what is the word poorly to ban someone who is selling a item that I own and bought on this server. IF YOU CAN GET BANNED FOR THIS TELL PEOPLE BEFORE YOU BAN THEM THERE was No warning just mods coming up with reasons out of nowhere to ban me and my brother because human beings did not like what one other was doing? But ON MANY ISLANDS map arts are resold with “permission”????? How can you ban one player and then when another does it let it be okay? Now reply say what you need my rant is over. I do not care what replies will be said most of them won’t even be read by me not worth my time to check.
Oh let’s not talk about how my brother was banned for messaging me in game that another player was salty LOL I Can’t js.
While I agree that the rules need to be totally updated with all very specific server rules so that it's not just "word of mouth" from staff, your ban is still deserved. Stealing someone else's property and profiting off of it without permission from the owner is just wrong morally no matter what it is, that's just common sense Also, the ones that are reselling with "permission", are players who asked the creators of the mapart if they are allowed to resell it and were given permission to do so, you were clearly not
There are so many things that are not acceptable in this game. So many that a single rule for each is not feasible. The code of conduct is essentially a blanket rule that covers all the things that any player with decent enough common sense should know is not acceptable. Reselling other peoples art is one such thing.
Oh, and you also forget to mention you stirred the commotion in the chat saying that players have more power then staff actually do and wont do INSERT WORD HERE about it. The Rudeness after your reselling is what got you banned, You could of walked away if you just listened.
Actually no, you are indeed in the wrong As Drogo said here, it is infact covered under the code of conduct. I would say it is in fact, common sense, that if another player spent the time creating a mapart to resell, you are not entitled to resell it for a profit at little to no cost to yourself. If a player allows resale, that is wholely their decision, as it is their work, you are not the one to decide on their behalf who should and shouldn't be able to sell it. This thread alone justifies your ignorance to the code of conduct, and demonstrates reasoning as to why you received, and deserved to receive a ban I doubt many players disagree with the decision made by the team with regards to this.
If you feel that it is okay to profit from other people's art without permission and to disrespect our community and staff then this isn't the server for you. If you paid money for this server and want to make the most from this server I suggest finishing your appeal politely so you are unbanned before 20 days is up and play the server quietly without doing things that will hurt other community members or the server.
You have made one very good point, its not explicit in the rules, and we hope that changes soon. But I dont believe that was the sole reason for your ban, and I won't step on staff toes when it comes to those details but from my understanding of the situation you were very rude to people about the entire incident which probably added to the ban itself. Also plastered all over my mapart shop are signs saying "NONE OF MY MAPARTS ARE FOR RESALE!" but you chose to ignore that and then flaunt the rules in peoples faces, just causing arguments, which is part of the problem you started, which is why staff intervened. I understand why you might be frustrated by this, but imagine the frustration all the artists face when you try and resell and undercut their prices just to make some grass, just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
Drogo doesn’t believe there needs to be a specific rule for this. It’s just common sense. Just like we don’t need a specific rule stating Drogo can’t slap you upside your head with a 12kg salmon. It’s just assault.
Look, I completely agree with you, I only mention it because this is far from the first time this has happened to anyone in the mapart community, and each time the outcome isn't the same, some people get away with it and aren't reprimanded like this case. I'm simply stating this as, common sense isn't that common... and every case of this always causes undue chaos in chats and forums, when a simple written rule would silence any negotiation/backlash from any offender. I agree not everything should need to be written, but if the same thing has occurred multiple times across years on this server with different outcomes every time, maybe it should be reconsidered as the common sense rule isn't working. Why do we need all this chaos every time it occurs, when if it was explicit in the rules, then they have no leg to stand on, and the issue is dealt with swiftly.
You had plenty of warning from the entire community online at the time. You just refused to listen and repeatedly insulted everyone.
That'll help the ban appeal, some people simply argue the fact, even if they know it is wrong they think they are above the rules
You need a permission to resell! Take TinyDuckie for example[survival].. she is selling a lot cheaper then almost everyone on the server but she doesnt allow you to resell her things!
can you slap me with a 12kg salmon Jokes aside, your ban is necessary. While yes its not stated in the rules doesn't mean you're not exempt from certain things. This is one of them. Some people put hours into mapart and for other people to sell it without their permission is flat out disrespectful and unethical. It would be like me selling a painting without someone's approval and claiming it is mine. All the money earned would go to me and not to them. Even if you did provide some money to the orignal owner, it still doesn't take away the fact you stole someone's intellectual property and sold it without their knowledge.
