A potential solution that might not make people happy at first but could be maybe easier to implement without changing all of the prices is just...dropping the sell price for pumpkins and melons a bit.

Obviously this would nerf existing pumpkin farms so...RIP everyone with a big one. BUT...it might be a more workable solution than raising the prices of everything else which would contribute to higher inflation.

Also something I've been thinking about regarding inflation: /shop should gradually charge more for the dirt / grass / sand that you buy to make it more expensive to buy massive quantities of dirt for large farms. (This idea would probably warrant it's own suggestion tho, since it doesn't really fit the scope of this thread)

Okay... here's my opinion for what it is worth.

Economy is just one big farm.

I remember back when I started everyone was always active and always talking with each other.
Back when I had to graft for a stack of oak logs; now I open /shop and don't mind paying the price...
The sense of community was immense. I come online during the day now and 50%+ of the accounts are AFK.
I know we all value money - trust me I know. It is a great feeling to be able to profit from a farm you spend a lot of time and cash on.
However, I think a lot of the prices need reevaluating. Whether this be an increase or a decrease it needs to be averaged out. Not only will it help with levelling out the community (possibly), it will also allow spawners and other items to keep their value.
Back in the day I would never have dreamt of buying a DP head, after Christmas I bought 5 in one go.

I appreciate the fact people have spent a lot of money on their farms 100%, so have I however, I would hate to see the economy continue to rise at the rate it is because people are AFK for pumpkins and nothing else. I wouldn't mind if the economy rose due to other methods such as different crops/spawners/map arts/rare collections.
New players can get 1 million in no time from various profit shops on economy these days, back in 2020 I struggled to have a million anything :D

But no, in all seriousness I completely agree with this suggestion.
I think the Economy shop needs a full evaluation!

I have briefly looked over this thread, I see you all agreeing and supporting etc but I haven't seen many (I know there is some) 'proposals'.
If you are all passionate about this, it would be nice to hear your ideas that you believe would benefit the server.

As a side note aside from my opinion above, Staff are not required to comment on a suggestion, in fact as mods/smods we don't decide whether something is changed or implemented. If we see any reasonable/realistic proposals, we can talk as a team and collate EVERYONES ideas (yours included) and those can be forwarded to the staff who handle these kind of things. I hope this makes sense.

Thank you for reading my response, again this is just my opinion: I am not speaking for everyone in this at all.

I would agree with you, except this isn't a solution anymore tbh.

The inflation on the server is so far gone that reducing the prices of pumpkins and melons is useless now considering how much money is sitting in people's balances, the only thing this would do is make it harder for new players to get a farm going and have the rich still be rich. I also would agree about increasing dirt and grass prices significantly, but same problem the rich players will have the farms already built and new players now struggle much more.

The only solution that seems feasible at this point is to either

    A) Reset the whole economy (I prefer not to do this but it would solve problems and regardless I doubt it will happen)
    B) Increase the sell prices of everything else.

It's not just farming materials anymore, the prices for so many /shop items are ridiculously low that people don't sell cheaper than the prices listed. First there needs to be a significant increase in the sell price for /shop as well as /warp shop for many other materials to the point where it can make a very close amount to what pumpkins and melons do, it's the only way that it will give the economy any hope of variety. After that, I think it's time for an entire rework on prices from /shop but I'd prefer a rework on sell prices before that happens.

I would be glad to sit down and do the math and working out farm ideas that would determine accurate sell prices for multiple other crops, I did this briefly in my previous comment months and months ago with some rough numbers for the prices at /warp shop but those would also need to be changed even more now. All that considered here are a few proposals that would theoretically make the economy more interesting:

    - Crop Hoppers auto replant seeds such as wheat or carrots or potatoes

    - Massive sell price increase to most crops then afterwards rework of all prices

    - Rework the entire spawner system to how it works on /skyblock where you can select the mob type you use, or just add more spawners to the server allowing variety

    - Lower the /sell all limit because as of right now the crop hopper farms make so much that there is literally 0 need for any other kind of farm since it makes MORE pumpkins/melons than /sell all can handle

Yeah exactly this - either everything should be kinda bumped up so it’s not all AFK pumpkin farming OR pumpkins and melons should be nerfed imo.

In regards to *specific* price suggestions, I think it’s gonna be hard to get a large list because even relatively small changes could drastically change how the game is played on Eco

Dare I say it ... but, it would be interesting to see the server where people actually farm for profit instead of having it all automated once planted. Don't cancel me for saying this please :p

That's what a lot of people actually prefer

Before server reset on the old .org AFK used to actually be banned and people had to work for their balance. Friend and I used to be top 10 on baltop a lot of the time from actually grinding and rare trading. It's 10x more impressive and actually gives people a reason to play

I completely agree with you here, and this is coming from someone who has put countless hours & millions of skybucks into AFK farms. Players should be rewarded for working hard.

I actually wouldn’t be against a server reset. And the point someone brought up recently about making AFK disallowed, I’d love that. Ever since 2012, all I can remember is staying online and selling my crops to make money, not sitting at somebody else’s island for 24 hours, 7 days.

A server reset with new rules such as no AFK’ing and adjusted prices would actually be cool. I think at this point in the economy, you’re either going to have to raise the price of all the other crops, or make people with massive farms mad when you lower the price of pumpkins.

I feel as if the Economy is somewhat “broken” compared to previous resets. Reaching $1,000,000 used to be something that wasn’t easy. But now, you can make $1.5m to $3.0m a day by AFK’ing a pumpkin farm. (1 farm produced $1.5m a day so the 3.0 comes from an alt)

After giving this some thought personally, and spending countless hours playing on the server that I love, I've come to realize that the Economy Skyblock server is missing a crucial aspect of a sustainable economy: Supply and Demand. Since the server is drastically lacking of a meaningful eco-related update, we've just kept selling, and selling, and selling to the server up in the sky.

The prices NEVER change, and I believe that is why inflation has gotten to the point it has with items that can't be purchased on /shop. If prices would change regularly, as in daily, weekly, or even monthly for farmable crops dependent on sell data for the previous (insert time period), it could make the economy far more sustainable for other farms. I'm not saying make pumpkins worth nothing, just have a range of 50% to 200% roughly that a price is able to fluctuate from its original shop price dependent upon sell data. I do think some set prices need to be tinkered with before considering implementation of a fluctuating eco, perhaps refer to the detailed guide provided by Calidre a while back for a good starting point.

Does that sound complicated? Yeah, but what isn't these days. If the server shop plays such a presence in the economy, it needs to be adjusted often in order to maintain a stable economy. I find it would be much more interesting to have major incentive to farm a certain crop that would never in a million years be farmed currently. And having inevitably a lower sell price for pumpkins and melons would put a slowdown on the inflation.

The only hope is an entire rework of how the economy works compared to how it currently is. My main point is that the server needs to be WAY more Player-Market based. Currently most items are obtained from /shop, and many of them are so cheap it puts a cap on the amount people can pay for, IMO much like /skyblock for at least the majority of the items, is that the people should be deciding the prices for items that way prices actually fluctuate according to supply and demand. You can't exactly call this an "economy" server when there is no economy, only a max price for most items given out by the server itself.

I have a load of ideas for an entirely different approach to the economy but unfortunately most aren't just a quick fix so it won't do much good for me to mention them here

Yeah I'm not strictly anti-reset these days either tbh. It would hurt for sure since I've spend quite a while working on this farm, but if the tradeoff was a much more balanced shop, I'd be down.

I remember 3 years ago I actually was in the top 10 for balances for a while and like...one thing that we all had in common was we were all just selling and farming a ton. But it was all manual / semi-auto farms. There wasn't any AFK farms at the time. Crop hoppers are totally awesome, but they should've changed prices on stuff when they were implemented because as is...there's no reason to do anything but farm pumpkins.

Personally, I am somewhat anti-reset, although I wouldn't mind another Skyblock server being released on the new version, while still being able to play on the OG Eco. I just wish we could put in the work to make the economy stable, and worthwhile. It shouldn't have to be reset every 3 or so years cause it gets so bad. That's how skyblock servers have worked for the past decade, why not innovate in the space. It just seems so farfetched at this point that anything will happen to save the server.

I've learned in life that getting your hopes up leads to the biggest let downs. But here I am, still on the forums, still one of the most active on the server, and just waiting for that one day.

I am extremely PRO-RESET! Reset the balance! The islands! The economy! The ban-lists! The issue listed in the thread could be fixed then!

A lot of people are saying not to change the prices of pumpkins drastically. Although from my point, I believe that maybe if the price did drop drastically and we implemented what you had suggested with the fluctuating prices that it may give more incentive to farm other things. Maybe some weeks/months pumpkins drop in price and other things raise or the price of pumpkins go up. Its a shot in the dark, but it may make it way less AFK reliant. Ofc there are people who have spent a ton of time in the past, and that shouldn't be rendered useless, but I think it would be fair to encourage newer players to get to the top as well. Coming from my angle, it was very frustrating as a new player and only being able to gain substantial profit (From profit shops) by putting those at the top further up the ladder.

I personally am extremly anti-restet. It sounds like a total whipe. I have a small afk farm myself I dont mind loosing, but what I do mind loosing is my mapart gallery. I spend so much time on it and so much money on the mapart in there and made some myself. After a whipe I wont be able to rebuild it, so I probably wont start again.

I've spent over a year now on my rare collection working trying to obtain them, and I'm still definitely all for a reset, but since map art doesn't necessarily hold any "value" per say, as in it doesn't really increase in value or rarity over time it could have an exception of being brought over. So any mapart you can show you created would be transferred : )

Here's my thought. What if instead of a total reset it was like an island reset. Where people could put non limited items, such as dirt or sand, and put them in their ec. Just a thought, although I guess that could make everything a bit more complicated.
