so its a simple suggestion. just add sand to the trade shops. the reasoning is this: there are multiple uses for sand and VERY little supply this is driving the price to be nearly unobtainable by the average player. yet its wanted by everyone to place for decoration, make concrete, use in builds. and I'm sure there's other uses I'm just not thinking of. it also would provide another means of removing a portion of grass from circulation helping to maintain a less volatile market. so in finality my suggestion is: Add 4-16 sand per grass to /warp grass (i think 6 price matched to glass would be the best rate) Give 1-2 sand to the Skyknight kit Add a kit sand to the shop at like 16 sand per day for the same $20 as the iron and wool kits. (i would absolutely buy a /kit sand)
BIG support. Sand is basically unobtainable at this point without our kits, and it makes building with concrete, glass and other sand related blocks practically impossible.
Neutral. If it’s added to /warp trade it will most likely be less than what you’re suggesting as most of the trades there are rather horrible. Although I understand people want the sand for building purposes, I believe it shouldn’t be easier to get as it is skyblock after all.
the current rate is anywhere between 2-6 per grass due to its scarcity so being somewhere between 4-16 pre grass is pretty reasonable in my opinion. i could easily see it being set at 6 per grass matching glass price in warp grass
Thing is sand is 2:1 rn, my shops are out of stock. Cupcake build of a giant sand hogwarts and devils concrete shop drove prices crazy. Im neutral for now, because I think the server just can't add an item for a super good price as soon as it gets popular. Yet I think sand should be in skyking+ kits as its "basic".
i would definitely support the idea of adding some sand to lower kits to help improve the supply, and added it to the original post suggestion. your 2:1 shop is my point exactly. sand used to be 6 per grass then dropped to 4 per grass for a long time and now its been drove down to 3 (i havent seen many 2:1 shops i wont buy less than 3 myself) but its just like lapis was you used to only get 3 per grass and like sand there was too many uses for it we needed to re-balance it out and so after suggested they increased the amount you got per grass a bit and i think that unless there's a reason they want sand to be scarce we need an additional source. id hope for 6:1 (price matched with glass) if added but i would even be ok with 4:1.
Just because an item decreases in price, doesn't necessarily mean it should be added to /warp grass immediately for cheaper to fix that problem The price of all items are changing constantly, since the server is economy based with the use of trades between players, the players are the ones who set the price for these items. All items are going to naturally fluctuate in price due to surrounding circumstances such as quantity available, need for said item or any other contributing factors. Sand is only so expensive right now because multiple people are buying all of it for certain projects, and when those people stop buying people will eventually have to sell for a cheaper price. The same thing happens with other items, for example over time diamonds have totally lost their value because they continue to be added into the economy, sand will do the same as more and more people get it from their kits overtime it will naturally decrease in price overall. Another example was beacons, for a short time their was a jump from 200 grass to almost 300 grass because certain people had bought all of the available ones for sale, this changed when mob arena was hosted various times allowing nether stars to be thrown back into the economy, and return the price of beacons decreased again. All items will change their price constantly when the price is controlled by the people, it's normal. Adding sand that has an infinite obtainability, will just ruin the value of all the sand many people have purchased at such low prices deeming their investments useless especially at such a high price of 4-16 sand per grass. Now all this being said, I'm not entirely opposed to having an infinite sand trade, but to be honest I would only think it's fair if it were 1:1, no cheaper than that. This allows a theoretical infinite supply, while still being expensive enough that people will still be encouraged to trade with others. The other issue that I didn't point out is that not many items can be traded other than with players because it encourages interaction between users. Having sand be so cheap that there's no need to buy it from others ruins that aspect.
again its not just about price but sand is a basic essential building block. (unlike beacons which are an end game luxury so its not really a fair comparison). its kind of funny that you say this because your directly contradicting yourself here. you say prices are set by the players yet worry about the comparison of price when bought vs future price. glass for example has an "infinite supply" at 6 per grass yet common price is 7-8 per grass due to the influx from other sources. even if included in the shop players will still set their own prices. and lapis once cost 3 per grass and then it was needed for enchanting so we suggested 8 per grass instead so ppl can now enchant more easy and make blue dyes at a lower cost. do we care about those that bought it prior at 3:1? hardly. the new price would upset a few people for a couple days then balance back out quickly. those that sell could still sell their excess for the same profit margin as before (for example lets use 2:1 now if we add at 4:1 and a shop sells at 6:1 they've essentially bought 4:1 added their 2:1 and after taking out the cost of their purchased 4:1 have still profited the same as if it were just 2:1 still.) you re mistaken here nearly EVERY item can be obtained through warp grass or the base materials needed to make it and the only reason the prices on so many items has gotten so high is there is few sources that REMOVE grass from player circulation. how many "rich" players have 10's of DC's filled with grass, whom have nearly unlimited buying power, two players like that could continue to buy all the stock from shops no matter what price leaving no one else able too or even able to afford to buy the same item if it were in stock. we need more things to spend the grass on that takes it OUT of player circulation. economics teach us this; as more currency is introduced the value of it deceases, the only way to combat this is by burning some out of circulation. we NEED more ways to spend grass away from players.
The comparison was strictly for an example of price fluctuation, not to show which kind of block is better The price of the sand basically comes down to opinion at this point, glass is so easily obtainable that the price people have set for it is barely higher than the current price at /warp grass. Eventually most people may not care yes, it's just one of the factors to consider. you re mistaken here nearly EVERY item can be obtained through warp grass or the base materials needed to make it and the only reason the prices on so many items has gotten so high is there is few sources that REMOVE grass from player circulation. how many "rich" players have 10's of DC's filled with grass, whom have nearly unlimited buying power, two players like that could continue to buy all the stock from shops no matter what price leaving no one else able too or even able to afford to buy the same item if it were in stock. we need more things to spend the grass on that takes it OUT of player circulation. economics teach us this; as more currency is introduced the value of it deceases, the only way to combat this is by burning some out of circulation. we NEED more ways to spend grass away from players.[/QUOTE] The thing about rich players buying out stock though, is they don't. I have almost never seen shops get bought out entirely, that only ever happens with rares that not everyone can afford. The key word is "could", it doesn't really happen and so currently there isn't a problem. My other philosophy is that we don't need more cheaply priced items everyone can access. It's a survival gamemode if you have everything handed to you there's no fun in that. Almost the entirety of the prices at /warp grass are so bad regardless that everyone stays away from it. I know for a fact I've never once bought something there, and I prefer it that way I'd rather interact and help other shops that need the grass. This is also minecraft, it's not going to follow the economics of real life. There is no need to have sand, only a want. You don't need it to get more grass or progress. It is still widely available for trade, just buy it for the more expensive price it is right now, like I said prices will change all the time with a player run market and if you don't want to pay the current price it's at then welp, not sure what else you can do My status is No Support unless it were to be added at a very MAX of 1:1, no cheaper
I'd like to see it in /warp grass but only for a decent price. The stuff there is usually so expensive it makes me cry. Or maybe just sandstone. But I'd have to agree with Cal, anything more expensive than 1:1 is a big no XD
