Hi, in my opinion I strongly believe that no casino's should be allowed because it's simply a gateway to a gambling addiction and it's encouraging kids to gamble. However I know that if I were to suggest to remove all casino's that it'd be downvoted as many people are making a LOT of grass off of running casinos. (Note, this IS NOT MY SUGGESTION)

So, my suggestion is that all Casino's must display their odds. It can be very miss-leading when you see a casino saying that you can win a DP head, as the chances could be 1/100,000,000,000 to win the head, aka, statistically very improbable. There is a rule against people scamming, and missleading people in the value of heads and other rares, (It is not scamming to offer someone and for them to accept, it is scamming when you tell someone the value of an item is much less than it's actual worth and you willingly do so). So if it's scamming to tell someone that their item is worth less than it's actual worth, why is it not the same with suggesting that a rare is winnable in a casino?

I simply do not see a benefit to casino's even existing other than a way for players to exploit their way into getting rich. There are also scams casino's but these seem more difficult to come by.

    How can this be implemented?
If my suggestion is implemented, all casino's will have 2 weeks from the implementation date to publicly and accurately display their casino odds, failure to do so will result in a temp ban.

People can just lie about odds?
Yes, people can, and there's nothing to say that they aren't doing that already. I believe people who get caught lying should also be temp banned.

The server itself has public odds on all keys, so why don't player casinos?

    Edit:
I am confused as to why people keep saying “Ha no this is not a gateway to gambling lol I don’t support this!”. I have not suggested that Casino’s should be removed. My suggestion is that Casino’s should have all of their odds displayed, which has no relevancy to wether or not you believe that gambling has an effect on children.

People dont have to tell their opinions.

I am neutral as displaying odds will make casino's safer, however it will add tons of work for the (small) staff team.

It will not take tons of work, there are not 10000s of casino's, there are a max of 100 casinos, most of which will listen to the implementation and display their odds straight away.
I never said they HAD to say their opinions, I simply asked for a counter argument.

Whilst I agree, casinos can lead to bad habits, I don’t see minecraft honestly affecting a persons in real life and lead to gambling addictions there on that behalf.

If I had to quickly sum up why I’m no supporting this, it comes down to the economy, the complications and the challenges involved with trying to implement something as big as this! There is constantly, day in, day out, new casinos being built and advertised and without a doubt, there will be over 100+ casinos out there, if there likely already isn’t.

    I’ll just sum up a few points;

Economy: This will honestly impact the economy like crazy! There is very few ways to profit on Skyblock, two mainstream ways, casinos and shops (there are more but these two are the most common). Gambling at a casinos is always a players choice and they do it at their own risks. Some casinos have easily winnable casinos, others don’t, but in my time on /skyblock in particular, I’ve never seen a casino that’s “impossible” to win, as in very very high odds.

Once you add demands and rules like this into the equation, it just complicates the matters and the economy would crumble as casinos are the main way of income for many players. Now I respect that there are other ways to make grass but casinos are a substantial amount of that. Adding massive rules like this would just cause many players to resort to shops and I don’t see how this would help the economy in any way.

Complications and Challenges: Implementing and enforcing these rules would cause all kinds of problems, drama and arguments throughout the community. There is no way for you to get hundreds of players to obey these rules, there will be a constant flow of newer players who haven’t read these rules and make casinos and it just leads to unfair punishments and conflicts.

Even for staff, enforcing this would be a nightmare, people will proceed to hide their odds, people won’t be able to display their odds within a 2 week period due to personal reasons, it will just be a full on disaster. Even the thought of this sounds like mayhem.

Reality: Take a minute to imagine both the reality of players coming away, enjoying gambling on a minecraft skyblock server and proceeding to gamble in real life and the idea of player actually following such rules. There’s not much else I can say in this point other than this suggestion seems unrealistic and out of the picture.

I respect the idea and it has its pros and cons but as of now, I don’t see this benefiting the server as a whole! This is just my own option and others are more than welcome to have other thoughts on the matter but this is how I see it. Thank you!!

I get what you mean by it has the possibility to lead to a gambling addiction, but if you are to use the same logic you would need to take away /warp bartender on economy. There is exposure to this stuff all around the world, that's just life. When it comes to your actual suggestion, many people already have their odds displayed but it is unethical for you to require every single casino to put up a sign displaying the odds of winning. I can't even imagine the amount of controversy this would cause, mods already are asked to check casinos quite often but if every single person were to display odds, Redstone would get leaked as well as mods would be wasting their time checking every single casino that gets reported.

Not to mention that it would be quite a waste of time from a staffing perspective, but what do you suggest the punishment is for those who don't have odds displayed? Or correct odds for that matter. This just seems like a way to complicate things when many casinos are already complex and like you are creating a problem where there is none. If you don't like a specific casino just don't use it. It's as simple as that.

I am going with no support, as pancake said it would be chaos to get everyone to change to showing the odds and even if they did that it wouldn’t really be much of a help since as easy as adding it to your advertisement it is just as easy to lie about it and when that happens really what is the point of adding this it would be hard to prove they knew or that they just didn’t make a mistake, it would basically be the same as it is now, people say they have a good prize in there and say the statistics of getting it and you can’t really go off the odds they say because it could be as easy as 1 grass to get the best prize or hundreds so they would always be changing because say it’s the classic casinos now with the 3 droppers the odds are always changing depending on the stock in the droppers so you really can’t rely on the odds, honestly what casino actually gives you the prize in the odds someone said it was, I feel like the majority of people playing the casinos is just doing it for fun.

But if this was added I would have to disagree with the punishments the one about not adding the odds would result in a temp ban is kinda ridiculous for just not adding the statistics to your casino at most I would say a verbal warning or just a warning would be enough because it could just be a mistake or simply forgetting to add it or being offline for a while so it would be silly to be temp banned because a possible mistake.

I don't know what the big deal is, all you need to do is write a few signs stating the odds of each prize. His opinion on gambling overall is not his point for writing this suggestion it's his reason for making the post, so don't take it as the actual suggestion. The suggestion of this post is to simply require that casinos state their odds. A temp-ban is an appropriate punishment, lying about the odds is a scam and scamming is already punishable by a temp-ban. Staff will not be needed unless a casino does not follow this, which can reported as they are found.

Since everyone seems to be misreading his post, the first paragraph is his personal opinion not what he's actually suggesting

He`s suggesting forcing to show odds when casinos are built not to get rid of them

I honestly think this is a fair suggestion IMO. This isn't real life, it's not going to change your life by doing this. Real casinos won't tell you their odds well, because it's a business. It's how they make their money. The same logic applies here and for most people it is just a business and it's how they make their grass/balance. Since their is an EXCESS amount of casinos that are made and pop up everyday it's hard to know which ones are legit as staff do not check odds unless one is reported.

I think odds should be shown, but only for top tier prizes. The only odds people REALLY care about is that 2018 DP Head you wanna win, or the 500 grass gift card. People win the small prizes every day.

Scamming is by definition illegal, and although technically casinos are always a 'scam' per say, in the end it's YOUR choice if you choose to play or not. It is a very hard thing to know what casinos are truly scamming you out of big prizes and I feel something should be put it in place, at least just for Top Tier prizes. This gets rid of the mumble jumble accusing people of rigging their top prizes.

In reality though, you will never get rid of scamming in general, you get rid of one thing, another way pops up. If you feel that a casino may be TRULY scamming you, don't hesitate to report it, the less completely illegal casinos, the better.

I'll support this idea, but if it's implemented some way as I stated above

Whilst I disagree on your opinion of banning casinos altogether your suggestion is valid, I put no support, I was bordering on neutral but I actually believe this wont solve any of the issues you describe, It would be great for people to advertise casino odds, I encourage all casino owners to do this anyway.

The problem stems from dodgy scamming casinos, which I agree should carry a hefty punishment. The difficulty is that staff are busy people and when they are on, they are constantly dealing with the spam of issues chat send, almost forcing them to hide out and do their best to cover chat issues. Not all staff are aware of how casinos work, hell some casino owners don't know how casinos work, but there is not the time or resources for staff to make these checks consistently EVEN if they check a casino nothing stops a person changing the odds immediately after.

I would ask people to stop selling casinos/building casinos for other people for grass, I know it makes you money but its part of the problem you building multiple casinos for any person who has no clue how to operate one and has the mindset that owning a casino will instantly make them rich... It wont unless you are scamming.

Getting past your opinion and onto your suggestion. It will make no difference and cannot be enforced so thats the No Support. Making people display odds will make zero difference to the problems of scammers and impossible odds. If the odds are impossible, the likelihood is that they will rig the casino anyway. Staff cannot enforce these issues.

Teaching people the risks and teaching them that gambling isnt a sure thing... and constantly making people aware that Yes, casinos do have good prizes and yes you have a chance of winning (in most circumstances), it needs to be taught to people.

This is exactly what I'm saying! I'm happy someone else agrees. He's not asking for much and there isn't a good reason to why this shouldn't be implemented.

I agree with your post, and Reformations I agree with what you said but my problem is same as Leo, there's no good way to enforce this. My suggestion would be a One-Time server clean up. Have a bunch of staff over a short period of time get on and start getting a list of current casinos (and using my idea I suggested) and check all top tier odds. Gives it a bit of a casino refresh and then if they find scam casinos, the players can be punished or warned based on if they truly meant to scam, how long they've been doing it, etc.

I think a one time casino clean up would be useful if something like this were to be added. After that, regular enforcement which is based on reporting only as something like this could never be done on a regular basis.

And how will the staff validate the odds? I'm quite certain the majority of them don't have a clue on how to do so, and getting the players' opinions on odds may just lead to abuse.

Like I said, it's hard to enforce. If it were to be implemented I feel this would be the best way but again not many staff understand the casinos and would be hard to do this in the first place. This would be theoretical assuming all staff understood. If it were to happen would have to require some staff learn or be able to understand them in some capacity
