Before I start, this is if 1.13-1.15 didn't exist and is from personal opinion. The only times I will be referencing 1.13-1.15 is in regards to the smithing table. Thank you now let's begin. Overall changes: Lag, of course Increased need for fire resistance and diamond pickaxes More people wanting explosions enabled and mining bots allowed What netherrite would mean for the servers' economy: Diamonds a bit more worthless Possible new currency Gold worth more More abundant netherrack /fix would even be more OP (so more users buying d50) /enchant being more OP than before (so more users buying skygod) Good things?: Possible fun in looking for ancient debris New trading options Bad things? More lag Grinding. Lots of grinding. Thank you for reading if you have an opinion of your own please do reply
I personally think that netherite would have to have a reduced drop rate, similar to quartz. My reasoning is that even though it is rare, it would be way too common for skyblock
If 1.16 handles redstone better it might help the server but for sure the nether would be insanely popular and everyone will get on that new armour grind
And more blocks duh!! We could build even more amazing and creative things with these new blocks and maybe update the mob arena with the new mobs
No support for the reason that none of our current plugins are updated to 1.16, meaning it'd take months-years in order to achieve the current plugin setup. There's also not enough optimisation plugins for 1.16 paper, meaning the server would start lagging once more than 30 players start joining (aka horrible). Currently, Mojang's basis on updates is flooding in new things without thoughts to servers/multiplayer, instead tailering to their Realms experience. It's funny how there's quite a few lag spikes on 1.16 where borderline 5 people are playing, which would honestly be horrible at our peak times. Imagine 120 players on and the server crashing from a single lag spike every 5-10 minutes? Yeah, me neither. At this point, 1.8 or 1.12.2 is the best experience for multiplayer servers at this point in time. Anything above or in-between is unoptimised for large numbers of players, whether it be with or without plugins.
you mean like 12 instead of 19.6 mhmmm Forgot about piglin trading!! Genius. This isn't a suggestion. It's me saying what I would think would happen if we updated. Strider, ohh yeah they'd be cool actually.
Ancient debris only spawns about 1.5 per chunk and you need 4 to make a single netherite bar. I believe it is rare enough. However there is also lava killing people randomly, but I think fire resistance potions are too op for that, as lava is the only big challenge, so I see your point. Also redstone could possibly lag less due to target blocks simplifying redstone a lot (Really hard to explain.) (quick explanation target blocks direct redstone to itself, letting it be powered by redstone easily, which most blocks do not do, and that lets redstone go in new directions, making redstone simplification far easier, however not everyone knows how to use this.) Also diamonds are somewhat more valuable since you need diamond tools to upgrade to netherite tools.
