I agree, but currently the only staff approved message on maparts is to shun and call out the people that do it as a deterrent, until it's a rule not to copy maparts, then this is what staff said to do.

This is exactly what I was talking about. This all feels WAY too far. Why don’t you all just make a map art creator discord and do it in there, rather than shame someone all over the forums.

Please don't confuse one persons goals with all of ours, we just want a rule that stops all these problems, Your suggested action PCcoolguy100 (aka phr33z) is a great help. I just want a rule that stops people selling what I made. Until we have that rule, I will call out those who do sell my art without permission as a warning to everyone to buy it from me not them. As i also said, i perhaps said things i shouldn't have whilst been annoyed at Termsy bragging in main chat that he resells my art. At which point you interjected to defend him, and yeah i directed some anger at you too. Because you were in a co-op with him right?
i will send you the screenshot in pm's. And yes, my alts were in a coop, but that doesn't automaticly mean i know about everything he does. I just wanted to make sure people knew you didnt get muted/banned for calling him out but rather for saying stuff to me you shouldn't have and then mute evading.
This discussion is really just turning into an unhealthy arguement. Why don't we just wrap it up, and understand the key point here being: Please don't resell maparts. While it isn't a rule, it is disrespectful to those who made it. This discussion doesn't need to be an arguement of he said/she said. There is only so much we can do about this situation. No need for public shaming, a "criminal registry" of sorts. Just a public advisory. It is inevitable that people will do unkind things on the server for their own benefit. We can dislike it, but we should not hate it. It would be best of us to all just cool down, and not argue with one another.
What would be really cool is if management actually expressed their impression/ideas/reasoning/opinion. It’s obviously a hot topic and gets heated as people are passionate about the subject. Perhaps the perspective of management would help. Staff (other than management or development) whilst I would love your opinion I don’t want you to be open to “taking a side” or expressing your opinions, and it be taken as gospel. We love you but don’t want you to get in trouble.
This thread got wayyyy out of hand today. I feel like most people have made their suggestions of things that could be done, and a majority of us have expressed our opinions of it. It's definitely a very hot topic and people are right to get heated about it (I would be a hypocrite if I said I wasn't upset about people reselling my map art), but it's definitely not going to get anyone anywhere being in a argument about it. Honestly I don't think making a list of people is a terrible idea, but I think you're approach on it is wrong. If any list would be made at all DON'T make a list of the people at fault, that's just one big callout post and is ripe for toxicity and arguments. Instead we could have a Mod, or someone else from the community make a community post (maybe even something to have in the Rules and Information section of the forums), and have map art creators with their map art listed and where you can get it from/who is allowed to sell it. If something like this was made (and updated on a weekly/bi-weeky basis) it would be a good way to keep track of things in a much more positive and community friendly way. To add map arts you made all youd have to do is comment on the post and it would be edited in by the Mod or community member who made the original post. I will also add that if something like this does happen I still think it would be a good idea to have a rule put in place about reselling map art without permission, all someone would have to do to see if it was allowed to be sold by someone is just go to the map art registry post and see if the resellers name is listed with that map art, and if not it could be super easily reported. It would also make sense that the only way to add map art to the post would be to comment to add it yourself (making sure that no one can add a map art to the list that wasnt made by them).
Alright I think this is enough of this thread, make suggestions on forums and not on threads like these where you “expose people” this thread should be closed because this has just become gossip, personally I think that it is scummy to resell maparts but we should not be gossiping this much about it. Again this has gone too far.

I agree with you, I want to give people a chance to see my suggestion before we end it entirely, maybe even ending the thread on a good note with something that (with support from the people who have been in this discussion) could be something I could make a suggestion post about and see what more people think of it.
Whilst I agree some people took it too far (which they have since apologised for) I will call people out who sell my art. That is what staff told me to do. I started this thread in the hope it catches people’s attention to a largely divided issue that needs to be sorted. And it has, now it needs to move past this as ChaiBean has so adequately put and work on solutions.
I don’t think you can alert every player on the server to buy map art from the “official” place. Make yourself a map creator discord, find the names of the resellers, and then blacklist them all from your own islands so that they can’t buy and re copy your art. Simple. This way there isn’t a whole load of shaming and bullying going on.
