This is going to be a fairly unpopular suggestion but I belive its best for there server. I believe we should ban the hack auto-ad because we have /ads. Right now /ads is useless because almost no one visits to check for a shop. There is also a lot of chat spam telling people which shops to go to. So what if the only way to have an auto add was to buy it on /ads. There was 1 ad per minute and 25 slots. The more expensive add slots are advertised more often. This will reduce chat spam and make /ads useful also it will reduce afkers because some people afk just to have their auto advertise bot running. Also right now /ads which is a cool feature is almost always half empty.

Although yes /ads is meant to reduce spam chat ads, some people can't afford /ads.

Personally, I don’t mind the auto advertisers. Just /ignore them if this is such a big issue for you.

 

I am slightly confused on what you mean. You say you want to remove the auto adverts because they are spammy, but you make it sound like you want to just replace it with the ads functionality, resulting in what is effectively the same thing. I may have just interpreted it wrong. Would you mind elaborating on that just a bit?

 

I put No-Support, as someone mentioned, auto-advert is not a hack it’s part of the sky block mod.

Whilst I understand your frustration with ads, /ignore is there for a reason. Also the /ads command is useful but only if you can outbid the likes of haberson who can flaunt his wealth to outshine the poorest players. What about people who are new, have small shops and can’t afford to bid against the fat cats at the top (Myself included)

Use /ignore and crack on.

Unlike /ads, auto advert is free and doesn't require you to pay x amount of grass every 24 hours so the ad stays up and at the top. As other said, you can always use /ignore if u r bothered with them.

 

I believe what he was saying was the /ad function (not spammy, not the same as autoadvert), would replace chat advertisements that run every x seconds. That would free up the chat and allow for less pollution on screen, I guess.

I’m going to have to give my opposition to this thread however, I think that the ads and people really trying to get their shops noticed is what really makes Skyblock Skyblock. Removing this quite core functionality would increase newbies asking where to find shops and even some established players who frequently use autoadvert as a means to advertise their shop may call it a day here on Skyblock.

 

Could the devs make a /shop page where people could vote for their favorite shops, to eliminate the problem of noobs asking for good shops?

I think that the auto-ads are annoying, but I don't think that this system would make them go away. And, as stated above, you can just /ignore if they really annoy you.

 

But it wouldn't be fair for the small beginners shops as they wont be as good as the popular ones and will likely be eliminated from the /shop
