I suggest you build a nice floating island with a small shop such that skyblock does not lose its "meaning". Just a random suggestion from me, hope this helps

 

I like seeing people preserve the floating island vibe as well, but it depends on what you are going for. If it's leaderboards or money making you may be forced to do the old lay-stonebrick-across-the-entire-area trick then slap something on top, such as a massive ocean.

I'm a huge fan of medieval structures! I do like modern too, although modern structures often look flat and contain a lot less detail compared to medieval.

 

Dont try making an artificial ocean. I tried it once and it was a pain in the butt XD

Make some "race land" featuring many kinds of races like boat race, pig race,etc with other mini games or make a huge water slide
