Hello, many of you will know me as Togpuss and understand that I have several alt accounts including one with the original name of SkyBuy. SkyBuy is a project I began 3 months after the new server was introduced. It’s aim: to be the future of Skyblock shopping forever.

Here’s a bit of context:
SkyBuy is like any other mall in its design. Although the thought behind it is completely different. With its 72 different rooms, each of the will be out to hire by other shop owners where other shop owners can promote their main shops and sell their very own items in their very own private room in SkyBuy. The rooms will be completely customisable to people renting them out with very few limitations. I will give more information about the mall in the future once the project is fully complete. Currently need to build up some walls and add some finishing touches.

In the mean time, please comment on this thread if you would be interested in renting out one of the 72 rooms or even a whole floor! Thanks.

Note: Helpers of the mall and staff members of Skyblock will get priority.

Are you planning on trusting people renting these spaces on the island? That sounds risky.

I'd totally be up to participating with a wee humble shop chest or two in a room here. I don't have a shop at present, so I guess I should ask if it would be okay for small-time participants to have a room here they could sell a few things from?

 

How much does it cost

 

I was considering making a storage unit which sends items to an area by a redstone circuit meaning no one would need to be trusted. My only issue is hopper limits but I will come up with an idea to change this.

Prices will vary depending on room size.

 

Would you like a small room where the player can earn "points" for shopping? It'd be a modification of JuztAndy 's design?

That is a good idea, although would still use 72-144 hoppers to dispense the items into the water stream in the first place, and then collect them at the end. I’m considering changing islands settings to make it so everyone can open chests. (Meaning I wouldn’t have to trust anyone). Or I’m concussing making the shops my own, and giving the earned grass into a ‘locker room’ where owners of the shop can collect their earnings.

If it works well, I’ll give you a free week or month of a room for your own shop.

Is this going to result in numerous shops selling the same items at different prices or will you control that somehow.
It would take some effort but you could, in part, resolve the issue of finding the best prices by, instead of letting individual players have their own area, have areas where different items are sold. Eg. red stone, wood, wool, stone, prismarine, etc.
For instance if you had a stone room, several people who sell stone would all be displayed in the same location so it would be easy to see who is cheapest.
Drogo has seen players create books listing players with the best prices but the prices always change so they are useless.
What Drogo proposes would mimic the book idea but allow players to edit their prices at their island and at skybuys so prices are always accurate.
You would be able to add your own comments to shops/sellers via signs to point out things like ‘Most Reliable’, ‘Always in stock’, ‘Often out of stock’, etc.
So rather than just a bunch of random shops that people still have to search through, you would be more of a directory which Drogo thinks would benefit players greatly.
Of course this whole idea could be done individually by yourself with just using signs and not having to trust anyone as you run the risk of griefing, hopper theft, etc.

 

I do like this idea a lot! I’m guessing you would charge/per 10 chests, etc rather than per shop for rent?

 

Maybe per chest as Drogo would only have two there. One in the stone and one in the wool section.
Would probably only need one for wool to advertise the price of all colors although some people have different prices for different colors
