Request: please do not ban this account if my appeal is declined. Server/platform (Classic / Skyblock / Forums / Discord ): Forums In-game name: Pingu Full exact Ban Message: Rule violations Did you read the rules ? I did, mind sending me a copy anyway? I'd like to refresh. Why do YOU think you were banned? Immaturity is likely what happened, as back when I was on the forums I could take things too far. I know I likely took a situation too far and got involved in drama (because we know I was that type of person at the time), but I'm unsure on the exact reason though, sorry. Was this an incorrect ban? I think the ban was likely fair, but I genuinely don't remember what I was banned for, nor who banned me. It's been a while. Were you ever banned before on SkyBlock? If so, what for? I've got a long history from my 2014-2017(???) days. A mix of in game and on the forums. Why do you think you should be unbanned? The "people change" and "I'm older now" pleas are getting tired, especially since I likely used that excuse a lot. I'm not really sure on what I can say to convince anyone to lift my forum ban. I feel it'd be easier to plea if I were asked specifics. Feel free to reject this is you don't think this is "good enough", but I would appreciate another chance to explain better if you feel this won't go anywhere.
Hi Pingu, Thanks for taking the time to create an appeal. Here are the rules as requested by you, I'm glad you're taking the incentive to read them over. However, for more in-depth rules, please click here. For the forums rules, please click here. I was the staff member who banned you in 2017, but you probably remember me as Dough? Anyway, I'll quickly refresh you on the things that you did which led to your ban, seen as you cannot remember. Forums ability abuse (inappropriate profile picture in this case) Harassment to other users Disrespect to other users Death wishes to other users Rate abuse Flaming (arguing) It looks like a small list, but on some occasions, you were banned more than once for the same offence. As you can see, it's quite a lot of offences that staff have had to handle for just a single player, and that's why the team is hesitant to let you back onto the forums. After speaking to a few members, some have questions they would like to ask. Why did you think it was acceptable to have 2 permanent bans in the space of 2 years? How do you feel like you've changed? Why have you decided to return to the server? (What prompted you to do this/what are your intentions) How can you prevent yourself from making the same mistakes? Why did you do these actions? Whilst it has been 2 or more years since these offences have occurred, it is still paramount that you understand why the team banned you at the time, and why we can be a slight bit reluctant to unban you on the forums now. Once you've answered the questions the team and I would like to know, we can have a proper discussion about it, and we can go from there. Also apologies for the late reply, I was on call today at work. Hopefully, it'll be quicker replies throughout the weekend! Thank you! So I looked at past messages by my main and i actually have an idea on what actually happened, so it'll be easier for me to answer! I'm not sure on the death wishes, but was it linked to my profile picture? That's the only way I can even think I'd make a threat like that, as death wishes really ain't it. But now I'm going onto your questions, which I appreciate! You've asked why I think it was acceptable to have two perm bans in the space of two years? I'm assuming you meant with what I had done to get banned, as we all know nobody likes being banned. Well, looking back now. I don't know. I don't think it's acceptable, but at the time... Let's be realistic for a moment, back when there were others like me (stirring drama, picking fights with staff (that's what I'm getting from what you've listed me to do, because based on some past messages, it's clear I didn't get along with some staff.)) I, like others with problems relating to mine, don't intend to get the actual punishment. I know actions had consequences, but while typing, I think that I've got an idea of why I thought what i did was alright. I believe I was abusing loopholes in the system, and honestly now I work in retail, that crap is annoying. I believe that this answers why i thought it was okay to get myself banned, as well as why I committed to the actions leading to it. I knew consequences we're ready, and thought I was immune through loopholes. I'm the type of person who wants to prove a point, but at the time I had a funny way of showing it, yikes. Sorry, I've answered this one the best I could! How do I feel like I've changed? Well 2017 me knew how to take a joke too far. 2019 me knows how not to. This may sound cliche, but as one gets older, they learn. They may be the same person, but they improve on their skills. I've actually improved on my social skills, which also helps me voice my opinion without stirring drama without making an a** of myself & others. For someone who isn't online as often, it helps with my patience with problems online. Like I was always -edit- if it took a moderator more than an hour to see my reports lol, but now. Sounds stupid, but being online less helps zone out problems I may have with others whether it's my dms, a server, whatever. You get the drill. I can joke around at times, but in the end i believe I'm more civil and I think clearer. Why am I trying to make a comeback? I really have no intentions tbh, I simply want to be unbanned. I don't have intentions, but idk, I'd like to see my friends. Minecraft is like something I don't do often, and I'd rather be more connected in the community of the server. That's on me for making it difficult, but my personal reasonings is to see my friends here basically. How can I prevent the same mistakes coming back? I'm not gonna beat around the bush, but even though I ssid I've grown as a person, nobody is perfect. I'm not perfect either. Like I said before, I'm more civil, and I think about what I say, which prevents bad thoughts coming out before I even think about them. You probably expect a strategy list, and I'm afraid I cant, as all I can actually do is think before acting. I'm not online anywhere much anyway, so I won't be on the forums long enough to escalate a problem, clearly not that I'd ever want to now. Got a 12 hour shift on Sunday so no guarantee of a quick reply from me. I've got all the time in the world, so don't apologize for keeping me waiting! *edited language
Thanks for replying. I'm not too sure, but I think it was to Emerald if that rings a bell, unimportant at the minute though. It's nearly always the occasion that once other people start to do it, people follow onwards because of this hierarchy thing, where sometimes people look up to the people who break rules and are - if you'd like - naughty. It's vital that you understand that we expect people to control themselves so that they are the best of themselves and not follow the worst of others. From the influence of others, it led to you currently being permanently banned, and as you said, it's not fun at all. Hopefully, you understand what I am getting at, and you have changed since! Moreover, with the comment about the staff, we're kind people and we are here to assist people that require help or just a friend to talk to, I'm fairly clueless on the reasoning behind this one. It's good that you now know how it feels to be a member of staff, and for people to find loopholes in your environment, hopefully, it puts the situation into better perspective! It's just a case of remembering that when you do commit an offence it will always come back to bite you, even if at the time you didn't get punished for it, unfortunately, for your case, it was permanent exclusion from our forums page. This is also a reason why we are slightly reluctant in accepting an appeal from you, because you were finding ways to cheat the system by claiming they weren't official rules, when most cases it could fall under the common sense rule, and some things you just generally shouldn't be doing. I'm sure you know this from your own experiences now, but this will never ever be the case for anyone! There's always a limit for everything, and most people do like to push their limits and see how far they can go. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome to prove a point and be correct about it to other people, even if it contains a bit of humour in, but your humour went a bit too far and led to many people disliking the points that you could have been correct in, it's just a case of hoping that you learn your mistakes here. When you did come round to proving a point, many people (excluding those naughty rule breakers) didn't actually find it funny, but in fact, offensive or just rude. I think I got the gist of it! It's not always the case of the older you are the more maturity grows with you, for some, it can be the complete opposite, but I am going to take your word for as you have been gone for 2 years, hopefully in those 2 years you were gone, you reflected upon yourself, and your actions on the server, and understood why they were completely unacceptable, so for this section, I'm going to take your word for it. OK, this is always a lovely thing to hear in appeals. I'm glad that these skills of yours have improved, and hopefully, we can see them more on the server if your appeal goes through successfully. Also for your reference, now we try and handle them as quickly as possible, it will be rare for you to see a report that takes over an hour for a response. Also, note for your next paragraph, it's probably not a great idea to swear in an appeal.. I'll let you off the hook for this one, don't let it happen again! (Edited it out in your paragraph and in my quote so that when this goes to archives players cannot see the language). Lovely jubly. It wasn't an interrogation, or us saying we don't want you back, we just wanted to make sure you weren't coming back for bad intentions (I'm sure it wouldn't have been anyway). It's nice that you want to come back to see your friends, if the ban suited its purpose, then it would have made you miss your friends, and you would've regretted it. Bonus for both of us. Rest assured, no one's perfect, but we all need to pitch in as much as possible to be the best of ourselves anytime we are around others, we need to be considerate. Unfortunately, you were not 2 years ago, and I see that you have learnt that yourself. I'm not asking for a strategy list, we're just curious to see how you can make yourself a better person now than then, and thinking before acting is a great way to start it off. I'm also glad you no longer want to escalate a problem anymore. All in all, you seem like you may have learnt a few things in the time that you were gone, however, I shall speak to the staff team so that they can pitch in their opinions, and we will reach a final agreement on this appeal. I should get back to you by the end of today (Saturday) or by tomorrow morning. Thanks so much. Southwark
After speaking with the staff team, we have decided we are going to let you back on to the forums. This is because: You have seemed to mature over the 2 years you were gone The people who had a large influence over you have left, so you cannot look up to anyone like that anymore Your appeal has been very nicely done It was a long time ago However, this does mean we will keep an eye out on your activity on forums. It is paramount that you understand that we aren't going to tolerate any bad behaviour, and anything of the sort could just lead to a permanent suspension again, but the next time, it will not be accepted. Thank you for appealing! Your Pingu account should be unbanned shortly, please bear with us while it is sorted. Please also note that this account will be merged as having more than one account goes against the forum's protocol and seeing as your other account will be back, there's no reason why it will be necessary to keep it separate. Your sup im pingu account will be merged with your other account when it is unbanned. Thanks once again, Southwark & Staff Team
