Now I know that this is not a forum suggestion but I had no idea where to put this.

We have a skyblock twitter account and this is a great way to get notification...

I think it would be cool to have a Skyblock Instagram account. This could be a really great/free way to promote the server.

I use Instagram daily and I’m sure a lot of players do aswell.

Daily posts could include loads of different amazing build done my players, shoutouts to really helpful players and updates...etc

This would be a really easy thing to set up... I could even do it myself!

Agree who will be running it? Also I'm pretty sure it going to be a staff member that will be running it if that the case. And when you mention twitter I know announcements and other stuff are on it but its not being used often. Like I get the idea that posting cool pictures but if no one post and tag skyblock then having a Instagram is unnecessary at the moment.

 

An instagram could be great if done well. How much do you want to bet it won’t be done well?

 

You see well this is why I suggeted it... I would want it to be something that is looked after and daily posts... Do you think it would be allowed if a player was to look after it?

 

A player can definitely make a server themed instagram if they wished, but I can guarantee that it won’t be “official” or endorsed by the server in any way.

 

It would have to be a high level staff member who know what to post and has experience and is up for it

Wouldn't hurt to add. Pictures of drop parties and such would be a great way to spread the server.

 

Neutral. I get a feeling that it would cause problems regarding privacy, because a lot of people have their real names on their instagram page.

Also regarding who would be running it we could maybe hire a social media manager and have them responsible for the account

 

i mean it’s social media, privacy isn’t exactly a big thing there. i do agree however that in the case a server instagram is made, it should be like the sb twitter account that simply mentions the players’ forum/minecraft name, and doesn’t follow players, and so players can follow the account if they wish.

a social media manager wouldn’t work because unless they’re staff, or are otherwise committed to the server, there’s nothing preventing them from turning against/slandering the server, which is again why the ig account wouldn’t be server sanctioned unless it’s being run by someone trusted

 

I think I’m going to create an “unofficial” page.
And see if I can get the ball rolling. If I can get my personal account in 1.3k followers in a year then I can do the same for this new one.
Maybe if it does become popular the server will endorse it and take over.

isn't that the point of the social media manager, to have passion and to promote the business i.e. the server? But yea, unless we do hire one it won't really work out. : p

To be honest I don’t think we need a social meadia manager... that just creates more work. Just a person that is competent and creative, to come up with inspiring / engaging posts.

I mean cool idea I guess lol idk I mean I wouldn't give it a follow or keep up with it. I think the server has a lot of work to do before they promote it even more. It can barely take care of the server and players now. Imagine getting a new crowd of people? it would go down in flames.
