So, people may have simple nicks and a much different ign. For example, a handful of people don't know my ign and don't realize that I'm the Audibility guy. So I'm suggesting that if a player is online then you can visit them by visiting their Nick instead, similar to being able to do that with msg. ---- Edit: Changed idea to /nvisit so that way it signifies you're visiting a Nick. You would need to type the FULL Nick. For it to work. /nvisit shouldnt need to work with igns or offline players
Do you have to type the entire nickname? If you don't, then what happens with players that have a similar nick?
Neutral, I have a nickname of somebody that joined in classic years ago, this might cause problems. (Note: The Player's IGN I'm using as my nickname is very inactive.)
Neutral it won’t be too useful all you have to do is 1: hover over the persons nick and find out there ign 2: ask them what there ign is 3: use/realname and find out there realname the command is there for a reason
The point of it is for new players to not get confused with all those extra steps. half the time, new players forget at least 2/3 of those things
I feel like this could make things really complicated. A beginner may not know to do /realname, but also may not know to do /nvisit.
It wouldn't be useful for only newplayers. As a laptop player, it would be much better to type /nvisit (nick) instead of having to /realname or hover over
Neutral. As 52 said, its already complicated enough for a beginner to know /realname or /re or hovering over their nickname for their real name, let alone /nvisit.
We could just make the /visit command accept Nick's and completely disable players from having the exact same nick, so suport
Yes agree with Arceus, since you cannot copy's someone's real name you can copy each others nickname. I did this once in /classic where I tried and copy my friend's nickname and it cause problems. A little scenario happen when we had same nicknames were when i /msg my friend it would send the message not only to him but me too. So imagine trying to visit someone but there are two or more people with the same nick that will create errors.
Neutral. I understand your problems with people getting confused about your name. But I agree it’ll cause some complications. 1) People can have the same nick. (I do remember once that several people named themselves the same nick for fun so I don’t know if it still exists.) 2) I think that /msg (nick) or /tpa (nick) is confusing. Sometimes when I try to msg/tpa to someone with a nick (because I’m lazy), it ends up going to someone else. But this was with someone with a 2 letter nick which probably doesn’t give enough information to the server who you actually wanted to reach out to. I can't think of any solutions to go about it, just that it's complicated. But I see that people are usually nice and answer players when they ask for IGNs.
