on /economy the tps drop to 10 is ridiculous. There should be a piston limit of 64 on normal, 96 on 149x149, and 128 on 199x199 with reduced speed if over limit or more dedicated ram to the server. Post other suggestions below.
Before we have limits, I feel like the actual cause of tps drops should be identified. If it’s pistons then a limit would be set
Any way you look at it, in the servers current state, farms are going to get bigger and bigger and unless something changes the TPS is going to get lower and lower and it's already becoming borderline unplayable. Something needs to be done but limiting pistons is kind of a last resort. Like Krissy said, identifying the main cause of lag is what needs to be done but that isn't just as simple as checking a few server logs... I think a general solution would be to deter players from building massive, lag inducing farms. For example lowering sell rates of auto farmable items (eg. Pumpkins) and increasing sell rates of manually farmed items (eg. Wheat) that cause less lag while being farmed.
Exactly what Krissy said. Adding more and more limits will just make people get mad. Let's identify the problem. If there is a solution that does not require putting limits, good. If there isn't, then I'm sure we can figure something out. After all, the server has been running for many years
Agreed. Pumpkins and melons sell value are an huge incentive to spend the money on the auto farms. We don't want to revert back to old economy where pumpkin farms made the server laggy and was all people wanted to farm. The mistakes of skyblock should not be made on economy so hopefully this will get resolved soon
I agree with the idea, may be not quite those numbers. And Krissy has it right. It has to be proven that TPS is dropping because of pistons.
What else would it be, really what else? The only other thing we have proven to have large amounts of lag is auto flushing water farms.
It is also my suspicion that piston and water from dispensers is a large part of the lag, but better to be safe than to prematurely tank the server.
I have a qiute big pumpkin farm and already changed the desing to reduce lagg. It worked, but the water flushing of my mobfarm is a big problem. It causes lagg as hell. Once i shut the mobfarm down and the tps increased about 0.1 to 0.2 . Btw pumpkin farm lagg will be obsolete in 1.13 bc then observers can detect stem growth.
I think its definitely a good plan to actually identify the issue. I would be disappointed if there are more limits introduced. Part of the reason I enjoy playing economy is the possibilities of automating farms. But I do understand the reasons. It would be better if the servers capabilities to handle them were to be increased. If Noobcrew wants the server to grow and hold its players, improvements need to be made
