When Crew and Lee are quiet, assume there is something in the works. December 16 marked the release of the new and improved, modern .Org. A server which caters to people who like to earn a whole lot of money and farm endlessly, Org is a great place for people tired of the sad spawner economy of skyblock and is after a challenge. In this review I will go over what is good, bad and my wishlist of changes for this server. The Good: At first glance things have certainly gotten a fresh coat of paint since the old org; adding auction house, a bartender, and a coming soon bank. Then there is the daily vote reward npc which (when it works) is a nice little bonus. /shop is a welcome improvement from having to warp to a physical shop and selling items has never been easier. We also welcome back the famous skyblock plugin with all the fun upgrades and custom plugins which are useful. Now the shop is a purposely overpriced place to get you started on your builds which actually encourages people to farm. If you need wood it is cheaper to get it yourself or buy it from auction house. At this point people lack the resources for huge, lag inducing machine which means small automatic machines, cactus farms and manual farming all win. Nice to see an org not dependent on mob spawners. The last point to make is about is the challenge of Org. It isn't a server for beginners; it is a server which you need to work at to succeed. Things like enchanting, saving money, trading/profit and more, org will challenge you to get started. When you get to a point where you are making profit, it feels all the more sweeter. The "Bad" I wouldn't so much call this bad, as much as I call this... undesirable. Skyblock has a reputation for people wanting to be the best. As such there are two systems that bug me. 1) The Island leaderboards and 2) Baltop. Island leaderboards encourages people to place the most expensive blocks to get the highest level and doesn't encourage creativity. You may have a nice island but if you don't have the blocks to make it level high you will be beat out by the person with an ugly island. Secondly, Baltop is one of the reasons people will hoard money. People want to be on baltop so much that they won't want to spend on anything. There is no incentive to use the money we make. Spawners are not that useful and neither are beacons. Yet they are what people are offered for their money. If baltop was an overall total of how much a person has made then people wouldn't mind spending because they will still be on baltop. Moving away from baltop my next complaint is donor perks for Highroller. For a rank that was replacing overlord it feels under powered. Firstly the $65 highroller rank had coloured nicknames. Now even $100 cannot get you that. As much as the challenge of no /enchant is... no /enchant for $100 rank? There are no special trails, no really cool pets... nothing replaced the things that were taken away. I appreciate that ranks didn't have to be returned but as someone who wants to buy highroller again in the future I cannot say it is $100 well spent like I can say for skygod on net. I always will maintain that if you take something away, replacing it is important. Yes, complaining about things that are given in good spirit is a bit sad, however, especially for cosmetics, it wouldn't hurt. My last complaint is... *sighs* chat reaction. This plugin just makes me annoyed. The same people over and over win this game and it is very unfair to people who are: new, slow typists, have over 200 ping or all of the above. Why ever did it have to come to org So what do I want to see? It is inevitable that machines will get bigger, we will see laggy pumpkin farms pop up and people will try make money with little effort. I hope to see things balanced out so manual farming is key to success. I would love to see a mini game that gets people hyped. Mob arena is boring and we need something entertaining. I want to see high roller get a few note worthy perks. Even if just coloured nicknames returned a few people would be very happy. /shop should have some items worth spending the money on. Rare keys or Leg keys would make people want to spend a bit. I'd also love a bit of backstory into the choices that were made. People are confused why we don't have /spawner and other features that were omitted have no reason, causing people to get a little frustrated. I think a run down of org features would help a lot in this regard. More warps would be fantastic too. Conclusion This isn't an essay. All I will say is that Org is a great server to play if you want to be challenged to create an island where you have to grind for the items to make it. I hope for some cool changes in the future to really take org to a must play server. I can nearly say i've converted I appreciate all the hard work that went into this server from our devs and Noobcrew EDIT: Forgot to mention Org was the best present ps. Sorry for any mistakes, i'll edit this later
Org is really the best present even with all its goods and bads, it is still like my first favorite server after net. I wish/hope they would add spleef back to org instead of mob arena considering it was so much fun than mob arena. And hopefully they'll add more stuff to highroller perks such as - you said - colored nicknames, more disguises, trails, /enchant (Not sure about if I want this to get added), etc I'm grateful for all this : D
Definitely agree about the ranks point you brought up. How come so many features were taken away? Since org was reopened, couldn't the old ranks just remain? The $100 "Overlord" rank was just transferred over to Highroller instead and lost quite a few notable features that would've caused someone to spend that much money on it in the first place. I am afraid that they're just gonna add an even more expensive rank that will have all the perks that were removed from the $100 rank in the reopen. The current Highroller rank feels like it should be much cheaper in this state, so I hope they do a bit of a revamp with the donor perks.
org is a nice addition to the skyblock server but however because I have done a lot on .net I don't play economy much but I will probably come on sometimes I dont honestly care about much of the org exclusive features (not including problem/big fixes). and my island is lol messy I dont really want to work on it xd plus most of my best friends still mainly play .net so I play there too.
Economy was our early christmas present for everyone. Even though since NET has Mob Arena, ORG could have Spleef what bert said. Having overlord back would be great, it could be the Donor250 of ORG. Noobcrew added a legendary key in the 'Epic' Crate in Economy, but not in the 'Rare' Crate of NET, It needs to be a thing. I agree with the baltop & leaderboards. Sometimes people are Top 1 to 5 with creative or ugly islands. The SkyChat part too, sometimes new typers can't even win skychat sometimes because of fast typers there are, even though when I'm not doing skychat, Bert, Troll, Bard, etc, wins the skychat mostly. It's good that Noobcrew brought back Economy.
All of the new additions are nice, I like the revamps here and the effort done to make it just not a quick revival of the old server, but I agree and disagree with Krissy on a few of the points made there: As for things I agree with, first and foremost the situation with the ranks. On old org, not to be rude but we always liked making fun of the people buying donor400 on net while we got to sit happily with our $95 Overlord ranks at the top. It was nice, and there was no creative blocks or other garbage cluttering the economy from ranks like that. So, when I saw the title on the server saying "Economy is back" in my multiplayer menu, I grabbed my old org bud and hopped on expecting to see the old ranks back. Nope. The old $65 rank, Highroller, is now the top rank, and I can't help but feel that Overlord's return (if it happens) will be in the form of a sad donor250 rank that either makes you overpay for features the old $95 rank had or simply introduces that creative garbage that would screw the economy all over again. Don't do that. As for the things I disagree with, well, there's a few: For the island leaderboards thing, yeah, thats stupid and encoursages people to make their islands into ugly blocks of expensive materials. But for baltop? Hell no, that's what 95% of capitalism is all about. You want to become the richest, have the most money, most importantly have the income to support that while being able to spend some, and then flaunt it. Baltop was the reason old org even stayed popular for as long as it did: it was a competition for the longest time to see who could be the best, from CobaltX0, to that L guy who's name escapes me sadly, to ChrisPaul, and on and on. It was a fantastic cycle to watch (with all three of those people getting banned actually now that I think about it rip) and it was what made org have the tight community that it did in my opinion. Old org was the first server to get this plugin and all of us, as far as I'm aware, loved it. It was a nice thing to idly do, gave mediocre rewards that weren't strong but weren't completely negligible so it gave a reason to actually compete, and were just plain fun. Except, there was one huge difference from those chat reaction games and the ones that exist on net and org now. The chat reaction we had was using vanilla words. God damn those were so much better. I remember going to net once those were added and being confused out of my mind. Only people that already knew the words could guess them. Blocksky? What the hell? Why was this ever changed? Now it's practically rigged against new members who don't have the word bank memorized and you can't use your knowledge of the basic English language to help you since they're all custom. Please, remove the awful custom word bank and revert it to vanilla or just remove it in general instead. It was so much better before. Aside from all of that, I guess it's nice to see it back. I won't be returning anyway, but I figured since a large enough part of me came back into the community in the form of the economy revival I'd at least drop my thoughts in. See y'all at the next big addition o/
I started sort of playing again because of org. Sky chat I’d say is OP but I think voting is more OP. Of the 14m I think the server is at, I calculated 8m is for voting. Which I think is bad... and yes, I agree with your Baltop statement, but I find it odd your #1
Don’t find it odd. I may dislike baltop itself but if it’s a thing then I guess I want to be number one xD I would rather it wasn’t a thing and wouldn’t be sad if it was removed.
To be completely honest, I'm very surprised at the popularity of economy. I'm glad to see it doing very well and almost on par with the survival server, and it was also a catalyst to bring people to /classic, along with the Skyblock hub. I like /bal more than I like /baltop. It creates more competition but also creates an incentive to hoard money and spend countless hours farming money. Skychat would be nice if people wouldn't take it so seriously, and if it didn't offer so much of a reward, but I like the minigame perspective of it. Overall, I think the re-adding of economy was a great decision. It gives everything a completely different dimension and now that there's a much larger population of players playing org, it gives that experience to a whole new generation.
The introduction of economy has brought me back to the server. I've had a great time building farms and grinders... I'd like to see sky chat get removed. I enjoy the competition of /baltop. But I agree with krissy it would be nice if this was a cumulative life time total. Then I'd spend the cash on the island.
