With the recent Nether reset it was time to go mining! After having fun with the voter crate keys, I thought attempting to estimate the drop rate of nether items might also be interesting and beneficial to those that mine the nether. The process was simple: I mined at least 1000 blocks of each item source and recorded the number of items received to get a percentage yield of drops. I used an un-enchanted diamond pick to ensure a simple baseline result, however I did mine another 1,000+ block of nether quarts ore with an Fort. III pick to see how this affected the yield. Here's the results: Quarts is just about as tough to acquire as it feels out there, but using fort III does increase the yield by about a third, so it's definitely worth it. Flint is obviously the hardest to get for reasons I don't understand. So there it is! As always, if someone else wants to try this and post some numbers it would be interesting. Happy Nether mining!
How only a 2% quartz increase with Fortune 3?? I can't believe that you mined over 1000 quartz ore and only got 58 quartz pieces which will only get you 14 quartz blocks.
Using the Fortune III increases the yield by 33% more than not using it, so it's actually a large increase comparatively. It is still a low drop rate overall. I was surprised too at the low return!
Woah I'm very surprised with these low percentages of nether items drop rate. Thanks for making this thread though!
I absolutely love your threads! It shows people how often items can be farmed and it’s just so useful and interesting to know! Keep them coming
Agreed with all of the above. ^^ It's nice that you took the time to make this thread seeing it probably took a wile. I agree, I would mainly like to increase the drop rate on Gravel, and Quartz.
Woah. How do you have so much time on your hands, Dave? But thank you. I'm surprised quartz is that low of a drop.
Well, I do have some time on my hands, but it's mostly just that I've been keeping track of some of the things we all do a ton on Skyblock anyway, but don't really investigate. Also, you'll see my island isn't exactly level 10,000,000 because I spend some time doing this sort of thing instead of building.
Thank you for making this thread! I can't believe how much time and effort went into it, it's amazing!
