As staff (previously and now) one issue has constantly been the same no matter the server: Trust.
The problem with trust is the power of it. People tend to not understand that trust gives a user access to everything and it is easy to forget that someone is trusted. This has lead to many griefs and many loots that all shouldn't happen. Not only this, it is easy now more than before to have users banned for innocent reasons regarding trust incidents because it is no longer "your island, your responsibility".

So how can trust possibly be modified to help? Some of these ideas may not be possible but could help reduce the number of loots and griefs by trust being underestimated.

/trust time [time] : This idea proposes that trust can be time limited if a person wants to. This is mainly for advanced users. This means a person will automatically lose trust when the time is over and thus unable to return later and grief or loot.

    Remove trust in 24 hours:
Also in the theme of trust limits, perhaps trust could be limited in a way which either removes it after 24 hours by default; in case a person forgets someone is trusted. A message could that indicates that a person is trusted for 24 hours only with the command for full trust. A command can be used for people to give full time trust such as /trust player u /unlimited or full

Trust doesn't give access to chests: By default, trust gives access to everything including unlocked chests. However this is the source of many loots. New users don't understand how to lock chests and assume things will be fine when they trust others. There are several ways this could be achieved.

Firstly, by using a command such as /trust [user] chests which is an add on to /trust [user] so chests are default always protected.
Second, users must be on lockette to open chests. So chests default to island owner and coop unless a lockette allows users to open chests.

Or some other way that can work to protect unlocked chests using trust.

Are you sure you want to trust? Moving into suggestions that don't require too much tinkering, a simple idea would be to warn people what trust does. Much like using /ni replace, there should be a thing for trust which outlines what happens when you trust people. Make people use /trust yes to confirm trust. Something as simple as a message that stands out in a persons chat could save someone from being looted.

    - Trust gives a person the ability to break and place blocks, and use unlocked chests
    - You are at risk of being looted or griefed if you trust people you don't know
    - Only trust people you know.
    - Are you sure you want to trust [USER]

There are of course other ways to try and stop griefs and loots however careless use of trust is a huge cause and prevention for new users could make the difference.

Support, it would be really helpful especially for the people who are new to the server and the /trust thing as I see lots of people getting griefed or looted because of them either trusting the wrong person or forgetting to remove the trust off that person so adding these trust commands and modification would be really helpful

Definite support, it would give a lot more permission to the owners of the island and the way they want to choose the way someone else will be trusted

I love this suggestion, full support. So many new players are unaware of the power of /trust, especially because on some other servers it means a different thing (like I was saying in the VC with you the other day :) ) This would be really helpful for a lot of reasons :p

I feel like a /trust with like a menu would be good the menu would have like options on what the trusted play can and cannot do like for example open chests break blocks change spawners and then at the end of the list have a Trust all button so you can trust with all the powers you have as a owner

I support this idea and think it would decrease the loots and griefs by substantial amounts

Full support. So many players don’t know the dangers trust gives and a warning would be perfect. I suppose the idea can already be done through settings like if you disabled chests but enabled block breaking or something but newer players won’t know that.

Full support, this is a great idea, it would need to be fully explained to new comers though to ensure that they don't accidentally miss out the timing part when issuing the command of /trust...

This could help to prevent a lot of cases of mistrusting and make our jobs easier in the long run.

    Support this.
Neutral on this. I really think that people will know how to/remember to put a lockette on chests. I can't remember if this is a thing or not, but once a player puts down a chest, there should be a warning message in chat to remind them that they are able to put signs on chests to lock them.

Full support on ideas 1, 2, and 4. Im not sure about idea 3, because new players often don't know how to place a locket + they forget.
