Has Skyblock died? I don't think it has, considering their player count increased by one thousand within a one day period... But Minecraft as a whole has died (Probably due to unnecessary updates). But what do you guys think? Were there more people online at a time 2 years ago? I don't really think there's too much of a difference (I've played Skyblock.net roughly 4 years)

Unfortunately, it has. It’s getting more people on but it’s nothing like the numbers this server use to get.

But idc what anyone says, this is a great server and I give Cyp a lot of credit. This server will eventually shut down not for a while though. This game is more than Minecraft, it has a really cool idea:)

I agree, I've gotten bored of minecraft as a whole but this server is about the economy, etc, I love it. I can't stop playing skyblock.net

    Skyblock rarely hits 200 players.

when theres updates and events it gets more players.

    The server isnt dead.

I don't think SkyBlock has died due to the fact that Lee and Myrm are constantly pushing out updates and actually listening to peoples suggestions and trying to make SkyBlock a better place for us, something we didn't have on /classic.

Minecraft is still and always has been an incredibly vast and advanced game platform. When "Notch" began the game, he foresaw as much. However, with the change of ownership and the failure to listen to what the community that flourishes around the game desired, the game's population and the interest in the game itself has declined significantly.
Minecraft servers have the presented exciting and advanced experiences that derive from the plugins that the server runs. Each server is different, though each is alike in a sense that they all need Minecraft and its players to run. If a server has players, it is not dead. If it has a community that loves and cares passionately for the people and the interests of the people, the server is not dead, nor will it die.
There have been so many updates in the recent past to the game and its components, but there were and are, in my opinion, so many existing features and implementations that could have been improved before the addition of all the new ideas and developments.
"Skyblock", in my opinion, will not die anytime soon. That opinion covers this server and the many others, it is such a popular game mode and it is to be enjoyed. As long as the people behind the servers provide sufficient assistance and guidance, information and insight for their playerbases, then you can expect longevity in servers like this one.

It’s not completely dead but I’m getting pretty bored. But leeeroieee is trying very hard to make updates, and to support them, I continue to play.

MC has never died. Look at yters they are still making videos about MC. Look at other servers. They are still thriving with players. As for this server, I think it is OK, but I have played in different server's that are IMHO better than this one.

Skyblock isn't thriving like it used to.

    - Our ranking and overall player count is better than before. 180 people at peak is nice
    - However in saying that we can assume the player count is higher due to holidays and alts
    - And also saying that there is a strong possibility that players are joining just don't stay or even donate

    - Minecraft, I feel, has certainly not been as popular as before. This has impacted multiple servers. The EULA crackdown ruined a lot of servers.

I could say more but I think it is safe to say that yes, skyblock has slowed down but the rate in which it is slowing was greatly reduced by the new server.

Well tbh your probably the 10th time I've seen a post like in the same category as this and here's the simple answer. Yes, there is a pretty significant decrease in player counts, since Minecraft has most definitely "died."

It was necessary though, it is the servers' fault for not obeying it. Mojang's game, their rules.

even so, when they did that the incentive to donate on a lot of servers went away quickly

Kinda getting bored of all these "minecraft died" "skyblock died" threads. Minecraft isn't as popular as it was back then, the same for skyblock. It used to have 1000+ players but with the years passing by, the amount of players have decreased dramatically BUT the new server is still doing great with 150-180+ players rn and the new update and stuff.
