Earlier today, Grxy was trying to teleport me to his alt's island to work on some stuff. When I tried to accept the request, it told me that I could not teleport to the island because it was locked. If possible, it would be very helpful to have a teleportation option in /settings. Turning it on would allow teleportation to people on the island, even when it is locked. It would still allow people to disable it if they don't want people teleporting to their island, but it would make working with others on locked islands much easier.

 

you can bypass this by having your account trusted.

Sorry for the frustration, Krissy. That was my doing. It was my understanding that knowingly teleporting players to a locked island you don't own is a bannable offense, so that's how I implemented it, but I can see how that could be problematic in the scenario you described. I've suggested a possible solution in the thread you made here: Skyblock - Locked Island Protection Levels | Skyblock Forums, please let me know if you think that might help.

In the past one of the largest category of player complaints was about unwanted visitors. Players would teleport or set homes on islands in order to bypass locks, abuse grinders, kill animals or just generally be a nuisance. Because island owners had no control over guests this led to many people keeping their islands permanently "locked" to try and stop this behavior.

Recently one of our goals has been to give owners greater control over their islands. We started with the settings command that gave players flexibility over what guests could and could not do while visiting. From there we gave owners the ability to remove troublesome folks with /boot. Lastly with an intense amount of effort we've located and removed a lot of exploits that allowed malicious users to steal and grief.

So with increased control over visitors and fixing long-standing bugs it seemed natural to close the loopholes allowing people to bypass island locks. The expectation was with the chance of island abuse removed it was no longer absolutely necessary to keep the island locked permanently "just in case something happens". Having an open island should no longer be a dangerous thing.

Which naturally meant if someone locks their island it should be for a very good reason and visitation (in any form) should not happen without explicit invitation from that island's owner.

We understand for some "power users" with multiple alts and permanently locked islands this could cause annoyances. The easiest solution is, of course, to unlock the island you want all of your trusted alts to visit and work on.

But for a small portion of users where this is not an option we are looking into alternatives. One of the most proposed is some form of blacklisting or whitelisting players so they can always bypass (or be banned from) visiting. Leeeroieee mentioned this in his reply on the other thread (link). This would serve as an extra, extra level of security for islands that players may want to be on total lockdown.

Things grow and change. Hopefully for the better. And while sometimes inconvenient I can promise we're not trying to put things in place simply to make life difficult for a couple people.

This has been implemented using the new /guest command. Adding someone to your guest list will allow them visit or teleport to your island even when it's locked. Trusted guests can also teleport others to the locked island (so if you have an alt you'd like to be able to teleport players to your main island, you can /trust your alt and add it to your /guest list and you'll be able to teleport others).
