I bid thee all welcome to my humble mod application. My name is Louie. I'm a junior soon to be senior in High School. I've been playing Skyblock since 2013 but only made a forums account in 2014. Now that school has passed, I've been able to come on a lot more often as some of you may have noticed and I look forward to staying! Disclaimer: I understand that I've been gone for a while now, that I only recently came back and that I've already applied. I was encouraged by some members of the community to post my mod application, so I have just to get things going. Your in-game name: Sxrge (Nick: usually Sarge) What timezone are you in? Yes Do you have the necessary means of capturing evidence? (i.e. recording software, screenshots, etc) I have screenshots and Gyazo. Why do you think you should become a mod? Now, I have had the wonderful experience of being a mod in the past and I think that as a fairly active player now and with that past experience, I could contribute to ameliorating other player's Skyblock experience. I have learned that important qualities for moderating are the following: Patience: Being a moderator requires an enormous amount of patience. Anything involving other people usually involves patience from helping a greenie build a cobble generator to trying to retrieve various items from a grief. Productive/Efficient: I'm a hard worker. I can be active for long hours helping people out in a friendly manner which brings me to my next point... Tactful: I know what it's like to get griefed scammed, killed by lava etc on this server and know how bad it can feel when someone is able to take advantage of you. I believe I have the tact necessary in dealing with people who've recently had wrong done to them by a malicious player. Humorous: It is important to also be happy, enjoy being on the server (which will result and did result in me being on the server more when I was a mod). It is equally important to interact with the community, be active in chat and understand the difference between friendly jokes and harassment. Open-minded: on my old application, I had written that I am unbiased. But I have learned while moderating that regardless of who you are, by virtue of playing on the server and knowing people, you have a bias. I am nevertheless always open to hearing both sides of the story. Logical: I have a acquired over the years the power of deduction and rhetoric. I can deduct facts from different statements from different players with ease. Helpfulness: An predisposed key that must be achieved before ever becoming a mod. The purpose of a mod on a server is to restore order in chat, speak in the name of the ban hammer and be willing to stop whatever it is you are doing to help someone that needs you. If a mod is not helpful, the mod has relinquished his purpose as a mod. Social: It's really important to be social. As a mod, I interacted with a lot people and enjoy doing it! Respectful: I try to be as respectful to everyone as possible (even though I do admit, have a tendency to call everyone plebs, there is no malice intention and it's all for fun). I respect anyone's decision as long as it doesn't interfere with the rules of the server or doesn't purposefully interfere with someone else's island. My Number 1 personal rule and favorite rule is respect. You can't grief someone's island without breaking this rule, you can't scam someone without breaking it. You can't do anything harmful without breaking it. Compassionate: I truly love this server and always enjoy my time on here. I still love just hanging out, talking to people I haven't seen in a while or working on terraforming my island. I also love meeting new people. I hope that when I show these new players how to do somethings that my love for this server will be transmitted to them. Active: I am on a lot, I'm starting to be more and more active like I used to be. Mature: For some time now, I have had a job which required a lot of responsibilities and vigilance. I feel like I can transplant that to the server. Honestly, I was very immature when I first joined as a greenie 12 year old in 2013, however I've matured over the past four years. Quick Learner: I can learn things quite easily and I have a pretty good memory and I know a good amount of the commands and how things work already. I would just need to maybe learn the new ban commands since ban manager is apparently gone. RIP. Experience: I know what moderating is and what is requires out of someone. I know that moderating requires sacrifice and holding yourself to a higher standard than you usually would. It requires strength and commitment not to crack under the pressure of people insulting you. How long can you be active on the server everyday? I'm usually on from around 9pm to 12:00am (PST) on weekdays and a lot more on the weekends depending on the week end. Monday-Friday: 9pm to 12am PST Saturday to Sunday: 6pm to 1am (I'm more of a nocturnal player because I'm generally busy during the day) How long have you been playing Skyblock? I've been playing Skyblock for over 4 years now (since 2013). I was promoted to .Net Trial moderator on October 22, 2016, then promoted to Full moderator November 26, 2016. I resigned amid complications involving the resignation of a friend on April 23, 2017. Have you ever been banned in the past? (In-game) I have been banned three times, once for greifing a player I have now befriended. I was totally in the wrong and I've now owned up to my mistakes. A second was for being too close to the mod vault. I was able to find the Mod Vault with some friends (One of whom was a mod now) and I got banned for being near it. And a third for greifing my own island which was a quite interesting ban. I have learned from my mistakes and have been clean for three years now having become a mod in between. Do you have any past experience as a moderator? Yes! I moderated on this server for close to 7 months a couple years ago and learned the ways of the mods back on classic Skyblock. I'm familiar with old commands but I'm sure they have changed by now. I know how do deal with reports and appeals as well as other mod functions. Do you meet the requirements for staff? Yes P.S. Please comment on why you support and why you don't! Some final words: I think that I could contribute to the staff team and the server by encouraging an environment of teaching rather than punishing and banning.
Neutral, because when you resigned you really did become rude. I know I did the same crap, however, I’m neutral because I wanna look past all that.

I've been trying to put that all in the past as you have, and to move on and contribute to something. I've grown since then and my saltiness has gone way down. Anything to work on?

You really can’t judge someone because of their past. It’s like me being really immature as a kid and I turned into a mature adult and someone were to say “OMG NO SUPPORT! YOU WERE SO IMMATURE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER!” That’s not a valid opinion or valid feedback because it’s due to past mistakes, not present. And his resigning was a while ago.
Due to my past 2 weeks of "vacation" I haven't been able to see you very often and can't judge if you are fit for the position. You do however have a lot of experience which is great and your application looks stunning. Anyway until I'm able to judge you as a person I'm going to go with Neutral leaning to Support! :')

No support. You just only just returned from being away a very long time which was your own choice. So you haven’t really shown that you being helpful and nice is because you have truely changed your attitude or it’s all just a show to get mod again.

Support! I remember you when you were a mod. I also understand you resigned, according to your other mod app on Mineverse. (due to people bullying you) for those of you who don't know), which is understandable. I've been bullied too and its no fun :c. You were a great mod and I missed you being one. I totally agree. I have been gone too long and back too short to really be able to apply but some people encouraged me to post my mod app to get things going I guess. Nevertheless, you are definitely right.
