    • Merged mob plugin configuration changes on the new server
      • Naturally spawning mobs are now merged (previously only spawner mobs were merged)
      • Mobs with different equipment now merge together as on classic
      • Spiders, cave spiders, creepers, skeletons, and zombies now merge within a radius of 10 3 blocks (Update: Merge radius reduced from 10 to 3 to lessen impact to existing mob grinder designs)
    • These changes were necessary because naturally spawning mobs (especially zombies) were accumulating in unlit areas, severely impacting server performance. After making these changes ticks per second (TPS) increased significantly
    • As before, farm animals (cows, chickens, sheep, and pigs) will leave one pair, and baby animals will not merge with adults, and leashed or tamed animals will not merge
    • Update: Incorrect merging of mobs in the arena has been fixed
    • Update: Zombie pigmen no longer merge

This has completely messed up auto mob grinders, I'm sure anyone familiar with them would agree.

Thanks for your feedback, everyone. It sounds like these changes have impacted some of you more than others, so let's see if we can try to make it better.

That wasn't the intent, but we might need to make some adjustments to reduce the impact on existing grinders. I've lowered the merge distance from 10 to 3. That should help a bit by keeping newly spawned mobs from instantly merging with the ones you're trying to kill, especially if you channel them away from the spawners before killing them.

They still spawn, but if lots of them spawn near each other they will merge into a stacked mob. Stacked mobs are just like regular mobs, except for the name tag, and when you kill one, it reduces the count over their head until you've killed the last one. Their drop rates are not affected.

These changes were mainly meant to deal with the hostile mobs that accumulated on unlit areas of islands where players were AFK. This ensures that they at least merge if they're near each other. Merging mobs greatly reduces the number of living entities that have to be updated every tick, resulting less lag. Of course, these changes do affect gameplay, so it may take some back and forth to find the right balance. Thanks for bearing with us.

A lot of changes to improve the server may have unintended consequences to farms and other things that Lee cannot foresee. Instead of being rude and snippy with him every time something goes a little wrong with farming why not go and respectfully tell Lee that the changes are not working well so he can deal with them appropriately.

Every single time a change gets made that messes something up slightly everyone is quick to jump down his throat about it. He works so hard on the server to make it playable for everyone and not just the few with the biggest farms or the people that want to grind all the time. He is not trying to sabotage anyone's builds and he always speaks to those who complain with such respect so treat him the same way.
You know the thing that makes people want to leave? The consistent toxicity and complaining. We get it already, the server lags and it is affecting pretty much everyone but its being worked on. If it was so easy to fix without nerfs it would have been done by now.

I appreciate Lee's efforts to increase the tps and hope that more consistent merging will reduce the impact allowing people to essentially have more spawners now without impacting the server tps.

    So thank you

I don't mind the honest feedback, Krissy. It's not always the easiest thing to hear, I know, but it's the only way we can ever hope to do better.

I do always try to be kind and respectful and always appreciate the same in return, but I understand that a lot of times people are writing because they're frustrated and upset, so I try to hear them out and not take it personally. :)

Change isn't always fun, but those who persevere, adapt quickly to changing conditions, and embrace new opportunities tend to come out ahead, not just in-game but in life as well.

    Stop trying so hard.

Thanks lee for noticing the problem. A lot of people have different play styles and I’m sure you understand that.

My play style is building big things, others just collect rares, some just come to socialise, and lots of people grind all day everyday. I know grinding is a quick way into the economy and that’s exactly why some people do it.

I’ve personally started to be a grinder also since the guardian island spawners. It’s an interesting style haha.

I understand stacking spiders and the other mobs, but not really pig zombies. With the fact they stack, and their incredibly low drop rate, and their high HP levels, it’s super hard to get the desired outcome that people spend hundreds of diamonds on to get. Currently 1 spawner goes for 15-20 diamonds each, and to get a decent drop rate from pigzombies, you’ll need 5 or so. That’s nearly 100 diamonds just for consistent gold.

    Thanks again :)

Lee thank you so much for your constant care and upkeep. These improvements are great and while change is never easy, sometimes it’s necessary.
Hopefully this will help the issues with entities.
    Keep up the great work.

Instead of being so rude and impolite to Lee, try expressing your feelings in an encouraging, suggestive way. Lee has spent his own free time making these changes, you're lucky we have a developer who keeps track of changes and listens to people in such a kind and caring manner, no matter how disrespectful someone may be to him. I understand that we all want to voice our opinions, but just think of how the receiving end would feel.

Thank you Lee for letting everyone know. You're doing such a great job and Krissy & Pile are totally right. I know you're trying your best here.

Not even trying, just sick of seeing Lee treated like crap every time someone is unhappy with a nerf.

And this is exactly the thing that is not helpful. It is just a game, and the owners have to think about the server as a whole, not just those who have ranks. So he isn't necessarily setting out to make your day. Rome wasn't built in a day, as they say, so just bear with it.

This is the poitivity i've been talking about. I have plenty of criticism and suggestions to make but I still take opportunities like this to thank Lee and bear with the changes. Change will always happen whether or not you agree and to actually enjoy yourself you persevere and move on. It is on you if you don't.

Just going to point this out, feedback people gave was taken notice of. All you had to do was politely suggest it. Wasn't that difficult.

If you’re polite about something that negatively effects things, no change will happen.

Could you imagine your favourite cupcake store changing their icing mix? And the feedback they get it, “thank you so much for changing the mix, it wasn’t what I wanted but I know it’s for the good.”

Mate... they won’t change it back and it’ll be crap icing forever
