I've found many many islands where people make a cobblestone generator and place the lava over their bedrock / spawnblock. Infact I've made a hobby out of going to newbies islands and telling them to switch it or getting a mod to switch it.

There needs to be something to prevent this from happening. It causes players to quit the server very, very early on and I visit several islands a day where this is the case.
I do not support the idea of damage being removed from lava, however new players should not be prevented from playing by dying over and over again. (edit)

Support, I definitely think that something should be done about this if possible. The first time I played Skyblock, I made this mistake too. I'm not sure if this is possible, but maybe they could make it so that lava cannot be placed on or above the bedrock, and it alerts them that they need to place lava somewhere else, possibly a message that looks similar to the alert you get when you try to drop illegal items. This would force players to put their lava somewhere else when making cobblestone generators.

I definitely like the idea of a chat alert to not place your lava over the bedrock

Support, so many abandoned islands are just empty with lava over the bedrock

Support, either a warning in chat, or the inability to place it directly on the bedrock/ the adjacent 4 blocks. Something similar to the warning message you get when trying to take magma blocks or lava from the nether.

Support. I've seen alot of players who placed lava (when creating their generators) on their bedrock and having their spawn set on lava, so I always ask them to trust me so i can fix it for them

Support. There has been numerous occasions where I have been working with my generators for items, or grinders for mobs, and the lava has killed me. For example, these past few days I have died 4 times while trying to set up my Guardian Grinder. I was finally able to come up with my own design without the use of any lava. However, during the process I lost many valuable and irreplaceable items. If not able to disable burning in lava, at least disable your items burning in lava, because this has proved to be an issue and very frustrating for not only me, but other players as well. I believe that this would bring great benefit to all players, and would be a nice change in the server.

I would suggest that the server should send a player a msg when placing lava around or on bedrock
    something like
"Bedrock marks your spawnpoint, placing lava near it can be dangerous"
    or
"Lava can be dangerous there, use water instead"

Theres also the fact that most of the gravitationally challenged don't know that they spawn above their bedrock. So perhaps something flashy and noticeable in chat thats just says "You spawn on the first solid block above bedrock!"
That could either be a rolling broadcast / or seen only when that player makes a new island.

Perhaps someone should warn them about the whole "void" thing.

Support. I like the idea of preventing players from placing lava over their spawn points but more optimally having lava not kill anyone seems like an easier alternative. It doesn't ruin the challenge of survival if lava damage is disabled so it should be ok. Lava in the nether should still kill players.

I disagree, lava in Skyblock has and always should be a potential for death. you just shouldn't get killed over and over again and be unable to play

Do you mean place lava over obsidian? I got confused at first until I read the other posts in response.

And what’s some ways to prevent that? Sometimes the easiest way to prevent new players dying over and over in lava is to go to remove lava death all together. Next simplest way is to block lava damage on the bedrock and where the lava flows. Even though you disagree with a method, sometimes the sacrifice will benefit the community as a whole. I mean apart from suggesting a way you can achieve the suggestion, I did support it so least you can do is be grateful.

I am grateful of your support, however I do not find the proposal of removing all damage from lava to benefit Skyblock. It is already difficult to die with being able to type /home while falling, /god, and flying. I find that there needs to be a challenge too. Items need to be removed too.

I completely agree with what Blyx said, how lava shouldn’t be able to be placed on the y-axis of the bedrock. It also prevents people from killing others by saying “/visit me free diamonds” and placing lava. (Yes you can’t get killed on islands you’re not trusted, but that’s not the point)

That could be really cool so, support! I myself have made this mistake on several occasions and it could be very helpful to newer players
