Hello, I am just making a small suggestion that might sound a little bizarre. The idea just popped into my head and I was wondering what everyone would think of it. I am unsure if this has been created before but I only wish to produce a suggestion that the public might like. Obviously, nothing goes without criticism and I understand people may believe it isn't useful or necessary at all. I have only just come back to skyblock and I have not been playing it as often as I used to, however, in these few hours I have played there has been a few recurring incidents. Incidents involving spam and small problems that need the right person to resolve. Moderators can't devote their life 24/7 to the server and a couple of incidents can fly by undetected... Maybe a new job of a 'MiniMod' might help! Like a rank that allows people to tempmute others as well as file a report that the main mods get direct access to and or issue a warning. The rank might be easier to obtain and isn't as abusive as it does not allow the ability to kick. The prefix might showcase 'Helper' so players may look to them for guidance and support. Although this suggestion might seem like a problem waiting to happen, I believe the pros outweigh the cons. Personally I stopped playing this server because the player environment was becoming quite distressing. I was griefed on one of my alts and the spam was ridiculous. While unsure, I do believe this aided to 'classic' skyblock descending into a ghost server. However, I have been away from the server far too long to make any serious assumptions and for all I know, people might have just been getting tired of the crowded server. It is a good server and the community is for the most part a friendly place. From my lack of hours, I obviously don't have enough experience with the new server and the people and I might be entirely wrong about them. Perhaps I was unlucky everytime while logging in. Although, my idea still stands. It might make things better, or maybe players wish to just resolve problems with the proper authority of the main mods. Thankyou for your time.
No support. Server just needs a spam filter that works properly. Mini mods would exacerbate the problem, as some players are annoying enough without that capacity. Also the mods are getting better at being online, so the problem should decrease at least spam wise.
A spam filter indeed might be a step in the right direction. And perhaps a fix for the commands. /ignore was not working the other day at all.
Yes the devs know that /ignore isn't working. I assume its been put on the back burner while they get the server running properly.
I see. Running a server is obviously no easy job, I can't wait to see where this server goes as it has lots of potential!
No support, I think adding needless layers when we already have great staff on hand and available at all times (either on the server proper or via Discord) will only complicate things (also agree with the above statement about the awareness already known about /ignore not working).
minimods tell you off on the slightest things. no. i reckon some of the minimods now would even kick you if you said someone was stupid
Yes, ignore should have been patched. However no support. Mini mods are more of a problem than a solution. Everything you described can be done already by helpers. In fact the fact helper is a rank may encourage more promotions to give more users a chance to prove that just because they are newer or younger that they can be good staff too. Certain things just don't need to be an official rank
LOL no support. Mini mods hardly help anything and make situations worse, in most occasions. Helper is a good rank to start at once you have applied and been accepted.
No support, the purpose of the mod rank is to help those who need it and assist chat spam. I agree they can't be on all the time, but it is their job that they volunteered to do, so they should be able to handle it without the introduction of minimods. I can see many issues occurring if non staff start obtaining the permissions to mute players, especially as kick and warn are supposed to be used first - there's still concern when mods aren't seen to be using it correctly.
Thanks for the replies guys I was prepared for feedback so I could try and construct a final conclusion. It seems pretty clear regular players don't like the idea due to the risks it would impose to other players. If only there was a brilliant way to abolish the spam permanently... Haha obviously there is, I guess the server is just in need of a better spam filter.
There are already "Helpers" on the servers. They are called TMods as in Training Moderators. This could be abused if it was easily gotten. There is always for all players to report spam as the duty of all SkyBlock players. People can report incidences that occur. Yes, there is a lot of spam however, mods can deal with it or you can report it if it flies by. Another thing, you can ask politely to stop spamming or tell them in a PM about the rules of the server as some new players are unaware.
Although true, the spam is usually well and truly intentional and the spammers are quite toxic. However, I agree that messaging them about the rules is helpful and is a good way to support the server.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make a suggestion! Unfortunately, your suggestion has been inactive for over two months.
