Hide user profiles when user is banned for any length of time

    Leeeroieee gave me a great idea for a suggestion.
    I see him go to other people's profiles after they are banned and ask people to not to post things about their ban. Especially posts that put the person in a negative light or is making fun of their situation. I used to do similar for users who were being targeted with hate.

    For users that are permbanned you cannot see their profiles and that means you cannot comment on them. There is obviously a good reason to not be able to see permanently banned user profiles.
    Apply this to regular bans. Why? The main reason is to avoid Lee having to consistently tell others to be considerate on a banned users profile.
    By that, I actually mean there are so many people who will go onto a banned users profile to ask questions, make fun of them, lecture them etc. It has really been a long time coming for me to suggest this.

    Imagine if you were banned for something small. You already have the banned profile picture and a strike through your name. You understand your mistake. Yet users come to your profile asking what happened. A player decided to make fun. People start saying "rip" and others spread rumours to the public about what you supposedly had done, which was false. You wouldn't want that over a small mistake.
    That wouldn't be a good experience to any player, especially more well known or users that get a lot of heat. To avoid most of that is simple; just add that same restriction on the profile of permbanned players, to users banned for any ban.
    It protects everyone and is in everyone's best interests.

    Although most players now determine if a player is permanent banned by the ability of viewing their profile. It’s become common sense.

    If this is added most players won’t be a aware when a player is permanent banned or just banned.

    Being able to view someones profile when they're banned shows us that the ban wasn't permanent. How about making it so we're not able to actually post on their profile, but still being able to view it if it wasn't locked.

    I've seen a few, if not, a lot of users commenting on peoples profiles saying things like 'rip' and 'why are you banned?'.
    This will help reduce this.

    I support Mai’s statement. However I wouldn’t mind the original anyway. It’s annoying because people provoke people through their profiles when they’re banned. I mean for the knowing whether a player is permanently banned or not - couldn’t players know how long or something? It’s not like it’s revealing a big thing - like the reason.

    Support. It's hard to be receiving negative comments on your profile, and be banned from replying to or even deleting them. There's not much reason for viewing their profile for much the same reason normal players can't find out why a player in-game is banned or for how long: because frankly, if the banned player isn't telling them, it doesn't concern them.

    Support, it happens a lot and the player shouldn't have to deal with taunting comments etc when they return to forums

    Everyone does it as a “joke.” Different people have different definitions of what a “joke” is. To me, a joke is something you say or do that both people can laugh at.

    Support but I also support what Mai said. I've seen numerous players getting banned and getting a lot of hate and yet Leeeroieee comes to their profile and have to deal with these players.

    Support. This is a good idea. People shouldn't be doing this and Leeeroieee shouldn't have to deal with players like that. This idea can actually help a lot.

    I hope im not late, but support! A lot of us have been banned at least once and hate have to deal with toxic people who post rude stuff on their profile.

    However if we can at least view it (not post it), that would be better

    Unfortunately, this would require custom Xenforo development to do, and we don't currently have a development environment to test this on. We hope to add one in the future, but at this time we're unable to accept any forum suggestions that require custom development.

    Rather than keep this suggestion open indefinitely, I'm going to decline it for now, but if we add a forums development environment, we can reopen it later.
