Recently there have been a few requests for this. Sure, /MSG is fine, but what if you’re building with two or three friends and you want to message them all at once?

I think the answer to that would be plot chat. A message that sends out to people that are 50 blocks around you, or a party that people could request to join.

Benefits to the plugin

This plugin would make group communication a whole load easier.
It would also prevent less spam in chat. Let's say I had a group of friends all on my island, and we were all doing something; I'd need to say directly in public chat what I need them to do.

With this, all of that could be stopped, as now public chat doesn't need to see our spam.

Negatives of the plugin

This will only affect staff members so non-staff don't really need to worry about this.
Chat moderation. Staff members would need to moderate another chat too.

Hey Laini!
I actually saw someone talking to you about it in chat literally like 5 minutes ago and I was procrastinating about making a suggestion about it, I would love party chat as I am often on discord talking to multiple people and often some people don't have a microphone. These people often have to message us all separately through in game PM which is a very inefficient way to talk to people.

Well I wouldn’t mind moderating another chat. I already have socialspy on, what could be worse! xD

 

I feel like moderating chat would get very messy with this. As much as I think it would benefit the server, it’s just too much for the player count we have.

 

It's on org and and easily be added to the new and current servers.

Also if it is like /local chat so it is only between friends or coop. I don’t think moderation of the chat is necessary.

Isn’t there something like this on ORG already? I know there used to be for a fact. Maybe they could transfer the plugin over unless it’s in the actual core.

 

It actually IS implemented on .org so I am not so sure as to why it's not here.

Support. I personally think that a party system would be better so that you can still talk to people without having to make sure not to go too far away from them, however a local chat would still be very useful.
