Honestly I disagree. I don't think you need to show specifically in chat that you're helpful; I think when people are constantly helping and answering every question in chat it just looks like you are trying extremely hard and that it's just spammy and annoying. As long as you are generally helpful and you answer some questions and have a decent amount of activity then you are a good candidate.
I 100% agree with you. Most of the time I help out in PMs anyways. Also when there is a mod on there is no need for applicants or 'mini-mods' to be 'helping'because that's what mods are here to do.
I agree with you both on that, that's why I changed my status. I realised that you can help in Pm only as it's less spammy and such. c:
