Hello Skyblockers, Some of you may know me from Mineverse, others may not. But, if you want a brief description on who I am, I am a senior-mod on Mineverse, a server owned by Cyp and Crew. You can check my profile on Mineverse by clicking HERE. Anywho, let me get straight into my suggestion. Basically, the title revolves around my suggestion (as most of them should be). There is a current issue with the chat filter on Skyblock. The issue, not seen on Mineverse, is very disturbing as people are getting punished for this issue (Will not be naming players). Anyway, the issue is that the filter will recognize any cuss word within a word, therefore making it impossible to right words such as "grapes". The following video shows this filter in action: This needs to be fixed, as players cannot type the words they wish to right. Mineverse currently has a better filter than the one seen on Skyblock.net, so the easy way out of this is to copy the plugin from Mineverse and transfer it to Skyblock.net. I rather write what I want to write with the correct words, than have a filter block players from understanding my message to them. Thank you.
For years this has been an issue. Many threads have been created (I made one awhile ago) but it hasn’t been fixed. There was a player who had the word Saturday in their name. The filter blocked “turd”. Nobody could teleport to the player because of his name. The chat would block social interaction for him. He was asking for help because he was new to the server. These little things make the difference between a player staying or leaving. He could’ve been an active player and part of the community. Possibly a donor. He could’ve told his friends about a great Skyblock server he joined. Each player matters and adds value to the community. These things are either overlooked, ignored or forgotten. But they are crucial to retaining players.

The filter is horrible and a lot of words don't need to be included. New players are being unfairly punished for innocent words (even though they shouldn't, but thats another story). What is even more ridiculous is staff not being allowed to say innocent words because they don't have the filter and it may "encourage spam". The whole situation surrounding this could be resolved with common sense which I detailed here: Chat Filter woes: ending the confusing and stopping the abuse | Skyblock Forums Or, Tweaking the filter. Either way, fix this one way or another.
This has been fixed. The word “grape” was being filtered because the word “rape” was filtered. We’ve removed rape from the filtered word list. Obviously if players use the word “rape” they will be subject to whatever punishments stated in the rules.
