This is a thread to help new players, or any others help understand the economy. For The Basics: So, you're interested in getting to know the economy? The first thing you should know is what it is based off of. Currently, on .NET, the economy runs off of 3 main items; - Grass (Mostly Used) - Golden Nuggets (Commonly Used) - Diamonds (Commonly-Midly Used) Take Note; many other items are traded for each other. Often times people will trade some cobblestone for smooth stone, or any other items. Grass: Grass is one of the most commonly used items on the server. It is usually the base price for most things. You could think of it as the $10 bill. Just about every main essential will be payed for using grass. Gold Nuggets: Opposite of grass, gold nuggets are for cheaper items. For example, the gold nuggets could be thought of as the $1 bill. Usually gold is used for stone, wool, and other items that are very easy to obtain. Diamonds: Now the good stuff, the diamonds. Diamonds are often used for much higher value trades. You can think of them as the $100 bill. They are much harder to get than grass or gold nuggets. You will usually find them being traded for heads, beacons, spawners, or any other rares that are worth a lot. General Prices: As of when I'm making this, these are the prices: - Gold Nuggets; they are worth 1 grass per 9. (1 Grass = 9 Gold Nuggets) - Grass; grass is the main currency, and isn't really "worth anything". (Though many other things are worth it.) - Diamonds; these are the most unpredictable. Prices of diamonds are always fluctuating, however currently they are worth 22-25 grass per diamond. (195 Gold Nuggets-225 Gold Nuggets) Where To Obtain These: - Gold Nuggets: They can be found at /warp Grass, the nether section. Here there is an infinite supply of them for 1 grass. - Grass: Grass can be found in many ways, here are some: - The Mob Arena (/ma j) - /vote - /buy (Donor ranks, perks, etc) - Trading with other players, or visiting trade-shops. - Diamonds: Diamonds are most commonly found within donor kits. They are also sold & traded at trade shops & with other players. They can also be found after many, many waves in the mob arena. Best of luck! Theo PS: These prices will change, and other items may be introduced. I will try to keep this thread up to date.
There's a lot of guides already, but it's a great guide anyways! It'll definitely help the new players. I don't see why there's a dislike..
Nice guide, though I would have introduced the fact that this is a barter economy, and therefore anything can be "Money". I use coal (not charcoal) instead of Gold Nuggets (since they can be won at /ma j) for instance, and Drogo used dead bushes for some time. It's really up to the Player. The only currencies being consistently used are Grass and Diamonds, the latter being a Little volatile as you have correctly pointed out. Now someone please hold me back before I start another essay on the skyblock economy... P
