One of the potential ideas for the new server was a buyback store that would allow people to liquidate unwanted materials or allow non-donors a source of more steady income. This was later theoretically scrapped for better systems that accomplished the same thing without as much potential for abuse or cumbersome work for people working on the new server. Nevertheless, I have decided in the meantime to convert the stagnant "WoolCentral" island me and babytheo were working on in order to make a privately run server buyback store on the current server. My goals are as follows: To have somewhere for non-donors to instantly sell items they farm, albeit at a reduced price they could get if they wait and find a buyer themselves (i.e. 2 stacks of wood for 1 grass) to have a steady, reliable income. To have somewhere for non-donors or new players to buy essential items with items they have, instead of with grass (I.e. pay 8 oak wood for 16 ice, pay 64 cobble for 32 smoothstone). To have a location for players to liquidate materials they no longer want (i.e. Bricks are 5.3 grass a stack if you make them from clay or 8 grass a stack if you buy them outright. They're currently hard to sell second-hand. If someone tears down a building made of bricks and no longer wants them, I'd offer 3 grass per stack so that people can sell back unwanted materials to recover some grass) To keep it as lag free as possible (i.e. no beacons and as little Redstone as possible) so that even players with bad computers can use the island without crashing. To provide information (like /visit mingo_x) to new players. I'm open to feedback on specifics, but this is happening one way or another.
I love the idea! Any materials you want in particular to help with building? I have a bunch of random ones at my island haha.
Sounds like it will be a lovely place once built! Good luck with it and if you need any help with supplies feel free to ask me as I have a bunch of stuff.
I remember on org i used to grind bones and gunpowder to sell it to the shop, that's one of the factors that grew my hunger to play it in the first place.
