If you want to write a "paragraph style" application instead of a template then bookmark this application. Mr. Green is exceptionally good at explaining his best characteristics without using headers. Best of luck to him.

The SkyBlock staff requires me to get written permission before reviewing applications, Mr. Conor. You need to start a PM with me, provide a link to your app and request a review.

Seems like a very nice person and the skeleton of an application is there. But absolutely no character or flavor is provided. This feels like a rough draft of a final paper: Something to get ideas down and then follow up later; there are spelling errors and strange word choices everywhere.

Looking forward to seeing the final draft of this application so I can support it.

Know what we need less of? Inactive Moderators. Know who would really like to point that out? Conor. o_O

That screen name hurts my soul to read. But after getting past that and the strange fixation against AFK staff members this application isn't too bad. Not amazing, but not terrible either-- can't hurt to give him a shot. Best of luck to Mister Assasin.

May actually be a bit over-qualified but doesn't seem to know it. His application is pretty good, only mildly over-detailed in a couple random topics. Best of luck to Michael on the next round of promotions.

Requested review by Mr. FC. I am a little hung up on this; I already had a rating before the request and I'm not entirely sure the entire thread isn't a troll of some kind. At the very least he needs to spend more time explaining his good qualities and less time hate-bashing the team as a whole.

    Best of luck.

Suggested listening: Stroke 9 - Little Black Backpack

Well now I'm more embarrassed than a porcupine in an inflatable pool. Until recently I wasn't aware Mineverse/Minetime users were sending review requests and I feel a bit bad for ignoring them. Normally it is pointless to go through an already accepted application, however Mr. Munk deserves recognition for bringing this issue to my attention. Sorry about that, sir.

Here is what I would have written, given the chance:

WHOA. With an opening like that your application better be more epic than watching President Lincoln slamming a nuke directly into Hitler's nutsack. I am settling in to be deeply impressed and thoroughly schooled.

    AttentionDied.jpg
That was rather dry and gritty.

Starting to feel like this application may have started at "5 Hour Energy" and then nosedived into "Medical disclaimers". You were intense there for a moment, Mr. Munk. Then you lost more focus than Season 4 of "The Walking Dead". Get back on track. Still holding out some hope...

Anyone that forgets 99% of the world doesn't understand what "GMT" (no offset) means has to be from the United Kingdom.

This is a strange quirk: British players omit the GMT offset just like Australians tend to say "AEST" and 'muricans throw something odd like "Texas". Please provide your offset just to clarify for the rest of the world, sir.

Someone answer that phone because I freaking called it!

I would pay good money to hear you read ban logs in an English accent. That would be amazing.

I honestly have absolutely no idea what the requirements are for "capturing evidence". Plain F2 seems to be OK... but I guess going more overboard than a Japanese anime fan at Comic-Con couldn't hurt(?).

    THIS IS MY FAVO(U)RITE PART.
    Must remain calm. Breathe...

Cut the fluff, Exposition Bunny. While this is all very interesting what I really want is the good stuff! As a side note: That's some rather rough grammar, Mr. Munk. Please consider reading your paragraph out loud and making some changes so it sounds better.

Moving on to the sweet, saucy stuff:

This is rather nice. Having enthusiasm is a very underrated thing in the world and tends to gather a lot of positive attention.

That being said: Pick a subject, Professor Detours. In this paragraph you go through enthusiasm and start bringing up past experiences, self confidence, reliability and determination. Sloowwwww it down a bit: Cramming this many traits together makes my eyes start glazing over and I faceplant into a comically-placed bowl of soup.

If you can be helpful without the tag, why are you applying...? Don't misread me: A desire to help others is a vital cornerstone for any unpaid, uncredited internship. But why does your desire to be helpful require access to the /ban command?

Please consider revising this into something like "reliable" or "dependable". You actually said this better in the "Enthusiasm" trait, consider moving some of that down here.

So far you have Enthusiastic, Helpful and Positive-- throw on Honest and Hardworking and we could make the Mighty Reportin' Power Mods.

This is more fluff than a feather pillow factory in a hurricane, sir. I understand you bring a unique perspective and personal experience to the table... but you're not showcasing it very well. Your headers and qualifications are bland, the content feels lukewarm and the details leave no pleasant aftertaste.

Where's the pop? Where's the juice, mango? Off the top of my head:

    • Unbreakable •
I have a resilience and positive outlook that cannot be shaken. Given a bucket of turds I will always find the smelly little gold nugget buried inside. During my time here I worked with depressed people, talked down players that wanted to quit and gently pushed the saltiest of people towards sweet redemption. Bringing this to the Staff team would be a huge asset and I look forward to new opportunities.

So far your application feels like you read several dozen examples and then tried to clone what works. I can't fault that because it works, but at the same time I get the feeling you could have done more. Do you know what you get for copying someone else's ice cream recipe? Vanilla Ice.

Normally I roll my eyes and recommend moving any "experience" qualification down to the actual "Do You Have Experience?" portion of the template. No need to stroke that cat twice, Chipe.

In this case you said something I want to comment on:
Color me confused, Chip. Your paragraph is about having "experience" but you dove straight into how fast you would punish people. The change of pace and tone there is like finding half a roach in my sandwich-- it makes me wonder where the missing part of the insect is.

You've talked a lot about being enthusiastic, helpful and oh look:
...enthusiastic, helpful, friendly, kind-- and will punish without any delay? I'm getting a jarring mismatch here, sir. Was this unintentional?

Based on the traits you've listed I would have expected something along the lines of "I am cautious about applying punishments and make sure I fully understand the situation first". I thought I found your groove but then you threw me a curve ball: Is your focus on being friendly or nuking a fool...?

This is very well said, +1 to you. Being approachable and reaching out prevents a huge number of situations and, in general, makes for a more well-behaved community.

However in the back of my mind I'm silently adding "...but I'll punish them without any delay" to every sentence. That line is going to haunt the rest of this application.

Fluff. Rewrite, replace or remove. "Maturity" (and the stepsister "Trustworthy") is not something you can claim just by talking about it. In fact the more you talk about it the less everyone believes you.

I always recommend replacing "Mature" with something better like Reliable or Active. You can prove you are reliable by giving examples of following through on tasks or working with others. You can prove you're active by logging on or interacting with the community. But there is no way to point to something and say "See! I'm mature!" -- that's a glass you have to fill up over time.

    ShotsFiredBattleship.jpg
    Begun, the one-upmanship has.

Taking a swing at the team you are trying to join is an interesting strategy, sir. "Hey, you guys suck! Can I join?" is a bold statement. When you were promoted were there any awkward moments? It must have been a frustrating feeling the first time a player complain you weren't online to help them.

Recommend removing anything attacking the current team. Try replacing with something like, "I am often online and can help fill in a difficult time zone".

    AngryFace.jpg
Frankly, this is way too common.

Don't disqualify yourself in your own qualification. "I like to joke around but I am a mature person" made me Google how quickly a woodchipper would dispose of a body.

If your qualification is "I can keep things fun" then stick with that topic. Don't toss in how you sometimes drop-kick fun and start being mature all over everyone's party train. The whiplash is so bad someone might sue you for spinal damage.

Toss this garbage fire in the FailDump. See above: Anything that mentions "Maturity", "Trustworthy" or "Honesty" is immediately ignored. These are impossible qualities to prove through text and anyone that keeps bringing it up just looks suspicious.

Replace this with something you can prove like Community Leader, Mentor, etc: You can provide examples of doing these sorts of things and it showcases that you might be able to accept more responsibility.

Or just ignore me. I'm burning out here; ran out of the hard stuff about a half hour ago and I'm feeling the effects.

Massive +2 for realistic scheduling. "Under-promise, over-deliver" is a concept most people take a while to learn.

Another +1 for avoiding a drawn-out explanation for these questions.

You dropped the ball faster than a blind baseball player.

Experience is the #1 thing that gets people hired. If you have done this kind of job before then list that business, sir. What were you in charge of? How long have you been in the position? Do you have references?:

"Yes, I have been a Minetime helper for 2 years as part of a 15 person crew. I have de-escalated hundreds of chat fights, investigated dozens of hacking allegations, located hundreds of stolen items and reported insane amounts of users for chat offenses. Please contact NoobCrew for references."

Don't confine yourself to purely "Minecraft" things. Are you a youth counselor at school? Do you lead the chess club, or perhaps run a lemonade stand? List that stuff. Management and personnel experience translates into any customer service job.

Quite welcome, although I'm very late. Best of luck to you in the future, sir.

Dang Myrmidous I almost spit out trying to read this. I had to take 5 minute break intervals to calm myself down after having a laughing attack.
