So, A guy. Is in jail because of a little server that isn't really loved anymore. Why and how did this occur?

He's in jail for other reasons, not from Skyblock.

Except that it would completely kill the server.

Well maybe killing the server is an overstatement but killing the extra profit it would indeed, considering its downfall lately... I'd say if the server was as popular as it was in the past it could do fine.

You know, it would be nice for them to get paid, but the profit the owners make is not enough to pay all of the mods.

dude, the mods wanted to help, so they can help. they shouldnt pay for free volunteering lol. some mods dont even do anything, some arent even active and dont get on. i feel like then cyp would be more aware of who to pick, the ones who will do their job properly and actually be active and professional like THEY SAID IN THEIR APP so it may be good, but even then he wouldnt have enough profit to pay each and every moderator everyday.

besides, having extra permissions and a tag is enough right? the mods would've resigned if they complained about not being paid by now

theres a lot to this, but its volunteering for a donation based server.

consider this- a twitch streamer dosent get paid, they get donations. the mods they appoint dont get paid, they do it cause they love the community and wanted to help the streamer.

sure, a streamer COULD pay their mods, if they wanted to. but they are by no means obligated.

most donation places dont pay volunteers, they do it cause they wanted to help. there may be staff that gets paid, but thats necessary to help the volunteers and keep the organization running.

ive volunteered a few times irl, at no time do i get paid or compensated for my time. the employees do, cause its their job.

when you apply, its to volunteer, its not a job position.
it (should) be cause you love the server, and want to help your community.

and the mojang eula and business license to be a business and some other variables... if a mod wanna be paid, in game items i think, but thats about it. unless your an admin/dev/builder/coder/etc etc.

off topic but pay per hour and the varying pay per city state and country,
a time card of 4 hours x lets say 10 an hour across the board, is 40$ a day, times how many mods, 20? not counting

800$ a day, added with cost of server and maintenence (cause he does pay builders and coders sometimes to help) ... does the server even make that a day?

coupled with its a time card so missing hours will get you demoted/fired. as with many mods are inactive alot or only get on for certain times sometimes over or under an amount...

considering we think of this as a job, not volunteering and getting compensation or something like that.

I dunno if you guys fully read what I wrote but I wrote that no, they shouldn't get paid minimum wage because no, it's not viable for the server.
This thread was supposed to be amusing and informative, not a suggestion, otherwise I'd put it in the suggestions section.

I found it slightly amusing. I guess I just don't find this kind of stuff funny. You said it in a way that seemed serious. I think that is why so many people took this so seriously.

Ah yes, the tragic nature of dry humour. The joke, in this case, was ironic and poking fun at the server. I did think people would realise I was being sarcastic when I wrote "Moderators MUST BE PAID"--but I might've confused then when I actually considered the viability of such a system.
I was just writing my thoughts because I thought it was amusing that moderators could be paid. I am also genuinely in love with researching, so there's that.
