    -=INTRODUCTION=-

This thread will outline how to make reports (both the forum's 'Report' function, and the Skyblock Report section). Hopefully, by the time you finish reading this thread, you will understand how to make and format reports and choose whether to report the crime or not.

    PART ONE
    -=SERVER REPORTS=-

    -=WHAT TO DO BEFORE REPORTING=-
There are a few different things you need to have and need to check before jumping into making a report. Although reports are easy to make, they're best if done right.

    1) Check if a Moderator is online
If a moderator is online and not AFK, there is no point in reporting something, unless the moderator needs screenshots and cannot get them through messaging. If a moderator is online, politely alert them to the issue to make sure it has been dealt with. This may be a long or slightly complicated process if the offence is something complicated such as a greif, but be sure to answer the questions quickly and thoroughly to minimise the time it takes. If they don't reply and are AFK, go ahead to number 2.

    2) Gather Evidence
In order for a moderator to ban a player, they need rock solid evidence. If they don't have absolutely foolproof evidence, it's more than likely that the player will not be banned. Don't take it personally if a moderator says they can't ban a player you've reported because they don't have evidence; it's a rule that all moderators must follow on punishment of demotion.

There are a few things you need to think about when gathering evidence. Make sure there's no way that the evidence could be faked. For example, if you have a screenshot of a person messaging you on the forums admitting to what they did, it could easily be edited. Also, more evidence is better than none. It's a great idea to make as many screenshots (taken with the F2 button) or videos (can be recorded with downloadable video recording software, I'm partial to Bandicam, but even gifs in Gyazo are acceptable) as possible, so you can be sure the player will pay for what they have done. If it is a chat crime, it's very important that if you are reporting a donor with /nick, that have a screenshot of you typing /realname <their name>, and it having it show that the person who posted that was indeed who they said they were.

LogBlock is a tool for moderators that can log the blocks that players break, place, and what their place and take from chests. If what you are reporting is a grief, scam, looting or another block/chest-related issue, moderators will be able to visit your island (or wherever the crime took place) and check if there are any 'logs' on the block that has been changed. The moderator should be able to access your logs without being trusted, though they may not be able to refund you by reclaiming the items. You must either provide the coordinates to the island on which the crime took place (feel free to provide them within [hỉde] and [/hỉde] tags, if you want the island's location to not be displayed to the public) or the name of the player whose island was on--you will not need to unlock your island.

    3) Check if someone has already reported the issue
Although non-moderators cannot see the reports section (as far as I'm concerned...) you can check the reports archive to see if any recent reports have been filed and completed on the issue. If so, then there's no point in reporting it. If you see a loophole in the report, have further evidence to add to a report denied due to lack of evidence, or you disagree with the action the moderator took, you can re-report it of course. Also, it's always best to report something twice than not at all, so if in doubt, report.

    4) Make sure it's reasonable
I'm aware this one is vague, but bear with me. There's hardly point in making a report if the issue occurred several months or years ago, for something tiny like spamming or using caps. If it's something bigger, then that's usually not a problem. You also need to make sure, of course, that the issue you're reporting is actually breaking a rule. You can find the rules here: Server Rules [Updated 23rd June 2015] | Skyblock Forums and here: Forum Rules | Skyblock Forums

    -=HOW TO MAKE A REPORT=-
After you have done the above (Checked for moderators, gathered evidence, check if it's been reported, make sure it's reasonable), you are ready to make a report.
First, you have to go to the reports section. Depending on whether the issue occurred on Skyblock.net or Skyblock.org, choose the appropriate tag when creating a thread in the
Skyblock.net | Skyblock Forums report section.
Click 'create a new thread', and depending on the issue, follow the appropriate format. If there is personal information (coordinates, transaction ids etc) put it in [hỉde] and [/hỉde] tags, so only moderators can see the contents and not normal players, as they will have access to the archive once the report is resolved.
Upload all evidence you've gathered either using image hosting websites such as imgur and gyazo, or use the uploading function by dragging the image from your file explorer into your message. Wait patiently for a staff member to reply, and answer all their questions as best you can.
If you tell the truth and help as much as you can, justice will be served in no time. ^-^

    PART TWO
    -=FORUM REPORTS=-

    -=WHAT IS A FORUM REPORT=-
Forum reports are a whole lot easier to do correctly than server reports. They are created by the little 'Report' buttons in the corner of every post, profile, convo and status. You can report practically any illegal activity on the forums, and if it's a bit hard to explain through only the 'report' function, you can always make a report through the server reports section too.

    -=HOW TO MAKE A REPORT=-
Making a forum report is easy. You simply press the 'Report' button, and type in what problem you have with the member/status/post/convo. If it violates the forum rules, the user will be punished accordingly. Unlike server reports, there are very few steps and rules to making a report.
    This button:
You need to make sure it violates a rule, found here: Forum Rules | Skyblock Forums or possibly found here: Server Rules [Updated 23rd June 2015] | Skyblock Forums . Don't be afraid to report something, even if you don't strictly believe it violates a rule, that perhaps it has already been reported. There's no harm in checking, and the moderators will discuss it and take appropriate action.
If you abuse the report function to abuse players, to spam moderators, or really to use it for any function other than reporting a fault, you will be punished, possibly with a ban or a mute, lasting for a maximum of 3 days. In other words, don't do it bro.
That's about it when it comes to reports, just be direct and honest.

If you make an effective and appropriate report, the moderators will be forever in your favour. Thank you~ ^-^

I hope people read this, I don't want to say:

"If you have proof, report on the forums."
"We can't do anything without proof"
"If you got scammed, report on the forums with proof."
"Talk to a mod and give them proof or report."
"Don't spam. Report on the forums with proof"
"We have no need of that information. Report on the forums or be quiet."
"If you don't have proof, then nothing can be done, sorry."

    It happens too frequently everyday, and is getting more frequent ;-;

The fact is we have lost significant ability to handle matters without players having the tools to protect themselves. So guides like this need to be read.

I don't even remember writing this, but it's pretty good o-o Bump, I might double check this to see if it's outdated at all.
