Hey guys, I just was thinking about the lag that has been going on, on skyblock. I feel like it could possibly be because the server runs on bungeecord 1.8, and players from 1.8-1.12 are coming on. (Thats almost 35 different versions logging on, and the server can't handle it). Not to mention the spawning of mobs by Skygods, but I don't think thats the problem, if the server was updated, even to just 1.10 it could posibbly help out loads, and give us new blocks and items to use. Just my thoughts, let me know.

 

I think updating to 1.9 or beyond means some problems with donations, so that's why its not updated?

 

Possibly, but I am sure it isnt difficult to get around them, I think it would help to update in the long run. It would bring more players on, which could bring in more donations

 

I was meaning that you'd have to change the perks you get to comply with the EULA.

 

OOhhHH! I wasn't aware, I am assuming EULA comes into play at 1.9+?

you can't just say "oh hurdur update the server its better!!" without thinking about whats already included and how it'd get messed up,
and honestly i hate 1.9+, everything included and the fps lag on it is unbearable

 

I think most people play 1.8 thats why the server is 1.8, Big servers hasn't updated and if skyblock updates to 1.10 people might not bother switching version and therefore not join skyblock. Idk that might just be my thought though

A lot of good points have been raised already, and I agree with the points that most people have made.

I don't think updating the server would fix the lag, but I do think that it would drive away new and old players: EULA would come into play at 1.9+, so the ranks would have to change and drive old players away. I know at some point last year trails were added, and aesthetic perks such as wings were trialed as new possibilities for the ranks, but the server relies on its kits so an update could not go ahead. As much as it would be nice to have the updated items, no support.

 

tbh the only good thing about 1.9+ is elytra.

 

The server should update to 1.9 or higher, but according to the Minecraft EULA, you cannot buy items from servers after 1.9 so they wont update past 1.8

 

Maybe stick to my suggestion y'know about delaying the duration and the amount in /spawnmob cause what seems to make lag recently is someone spawning alot of animals recently causing the server to lag plus no support for this suggestion cause of EULA sadly..

 

BRING US TERRACOTTA CYPRIOTMERKZ! Gosh dang it. I lost interest because this server still isn't updated. I want my beautiful glazed terracotta and purpur thingies.
