If eventually achievements for doing something like building a portal were added, I think it would be cute if the achievement was along the lines of "well this was pointless" and it gives you a bit of netherrack. Not that I really think that's a good idea, it just popped into my head.

I was about to say support, but no support. It is going to easy to obtain lava, which is illegal to trade, and will result in a number of reports of illegal trading, which won't look good nor easy to manage. Not only that mining netherrack, quartz, and nether bricks will be easy asf. All you need to do is to mine every block, type /newisland and /newisland yes and poof a new nether island to mine again. All in all, it would cripple the prices of nether blocks.

No support. Nether sky lock is on mineverse. Possibly more lag. Possibility for more illegal trade. It's really just not a good idea.
