We need a way for the people that do not want to see profanity to toggle it off and for the ones who do want to speak/see chat profanity be able to do so.

Eh, it seems like a useful tool. but it just seems a little useless at the same time.

And besides, if someone didn't want to read the profanity.. They could just;

• /ignore the player.
• Turn off the chat

 

I do not feel this will be suitable for children who are playing on this server. Some people are young and will still toggle it on and that will not be good. I have to say no support.

No support. You don't want a 10 year old kid turning that filer off and seeing all the curse and sexual words. And before they know it, they'll get into trouble more easily and it will escalate pretty quickly (possibly a lawsuit against cyp, which he doesn't want AT ALL).

 

True, I tried saying gay in chat, it never worked lol. But wtf can be translated into different meanings like walruses throw fish, wow that flower, woah that friend, etc.(not just what the f***).

If I had my way, I'd only have the filter on really offensive words like the n word. Profanity is in our vocabularies, so we should be able to express it. However this is meant to be friendly for those who don't use profanity, so I'm neutral. Besides "gay" should be removed from the filter.

 

I could see this being useful, but I don't think there is any addon which can do this.

My idea is; any user who is below the age of 13 shall we say? the swears are censored but the user can uncensor them if he/she wants.

Last time I checked this server was G rated.
Also it would make moderating confusing, like whether to kick or not.

 

even though i don't support it, it wouldn't make it any more confusing; the filter means that cussing is allowed, and people can filter/unfilter at their own discretion, and so staff would not need to kick for it. your point is invalid
