But basically 12 yr old immature kids who havent hit puberty yet keep being promoted and you talk about being "ready" haha
Imo, there isn't even need for 25+ moderators. Server population isn't crazy, and a good amount of donors, aka the mini mods, are all juiced up on "helping the greeners" so they feel their mod apps are more likely to be chosen.
Mainly to try and have moderators constantly online. Skyblock is the type of server that requires moderation for many things. Players need us to remove signs, see if their island is legal to sell, inspect looting/griefing incidents, and overall to prevent common rules from being broken (trading starter items, island farming, ect.). While other servers can do fine without a moderator online at all times, Skyblock is a bit different in that aspect. Although it's impossible to guarantee a moderator is online at all times, promoting more in a variety of timezones certainly does help us get as close to that as possible. When I first joined the server I actually wondered the same thing. "Why so much staff for a rather small server?", but after of moderating here for 3 months now it completely makes sense and seems reasonable to me. Promotions are also something players look forward to, and it's just become apart of skyblock.
Oh dear, I may be the unpopular opinion here. Well since I've come back I've noticed a difference in the moderator team: I've only seen two moderators online (Krissy, Talia) over about 7 hours of being in-game, and they were both only online once for a fairly brief period (they're only human). The fact there are more moderators than when I was here and yet only ONE of them is Australian is awful. I agree with quality over quantity personally, because it means for the moderators, changes and decisions are easier to make, you feel like more of a tight-knit team, and even more motivated to work hard. When there are lots of mods, you feel as if there are a bunch of other people doing your job so you don't have to go online. Just personal experience here, not really any opinions.
The number one time when I see no moderators online and the key moment for anyone to break the rules is around 4:00 am to 6:00 am CT. I have seen some people spamming no mod online to punish. Another point you do need some moderators from the same timezones means if one moderator cannot be online, then another can. Because if you have only 1 moderator from one timezone, and they are not able to get online, then the server would have no moderator online. I do agree with Lycel, because more good moderators means a better moderated server.
