The real problem is when I'm on, no mods have been on for a couple hours. Talia and Krissy might come on, but that's about it. Krissy is the only Australian mod, so we need more mods on different time zones other than US to cover.
I agree, it's pretty dumb because there STILL aren't many Australian mods that can be on all evening for us.
I don't think promoting more us mods was right, cause we need aussie mods. Taila is good because shes normally still awake in my times. So we have Talia and Krissy out of all the other mods that are called AUS mods to me.
So whittle down the US mods to only those who do exemplary in their jobs/have enough playtime/etc., and find Aussie/UK staff to take their place. So that way, we're adding on actual progress and help, not just adding to an "elite group"
I love opinions! Let's begin! I like where this is going YES YES YES. There's like 60 people on the server usually, and yet still no mods. So I see exactly what you're saying and what everyone else is saying and you're both right. Why don't we demote the inactive users? Why don't we just dump .org and focus on bringing .net back alive. There are certain mods I haven't seen online for months. QUALITY IS BETTER THAN QUANTITY AM I RIGHT? You don't know how much I agree with you iTestify. And I love the way you say this without actually putting down the mods, I mean I can never do that successfully and end up with a ban.
Well, seeing as those two mods can't be on everyday 24/7, I understand the need for more than two. Just, not THAT many more than two.
Thank you! I appreciate your input. It's nice to have at least one person agree with me, I was beginning to feel like I made a bad decision by posting up my ideas. And yes, quality over quantity. That's the point I was trying to get across, but couldn't quite word properly.
Hiding behind a time zone is pathetic and an easy way to find lacklustre staff members. Anyone who uses this excuse is lazy and searching for an excuse. It's better to have less moderators that are qualified than a bunch of fifteen-year-old children that have no idea how to handle anything that's said to them. Quality will always trump quantity.
Hello! As you may know already (probably not), I am currently a moderator on a very large server that is moderately understaffed compared to other major servers out there so I feel as if my opinion can be of value in this thread since I have quite a good experience with moderating and server staff selection. I'm not going to mention any server names since that would be breaking the rules (I think). The biggest server on Minecraft usually have around 50, 000 players online and they have around 200 staff members. They get all of the reports done within one day and they deal with a lot of in-game rule breakers. In my opinion, there are enough moderators already on that server since they are pretty much able to help/deal with a player right away. On the server I moderate (the second largest server on Minecraft), we have around 10, 000 players online usually and we only have around 35-40 moderating staff members. We get reports done within 3-5 days usually unless we suddenly get all moderators crashing down on reports. We try and recruit even more staff members to help out since everything isn't service 'right on the spot'. I commonly have to use the term "please be patient". For a large Minecraft server, we are quite understaffed in my opinion. However, even though we are understaffed, I personally think that as a team we do pretty damn well. Skyblock has around 40-100 people online, which is relatively smaller and the moderation team is around 26-28 staff members. I personally think this is quite a good number since it allows some staff to be innactive for a while because of real life stress and troubles and they don't have to worry about a moderator not being online during their timezones (unless you're in the AUS timezone, where they do need more mods). More staff means that players can feel happy since the staff members are able to help them with Skyblock troubles. Also, there will be less players getting away with griefings. Personally, what I think is wrong with Skyblock is the lack of administrators able to refund players who lost their items. Cyp barely comes online because of how busy he is and noobcrew, idk anymore. I quite support more staff promotions however more administrators (and AUS moderators) would be great. In general, the server is pretty well staffed though and I think that is great and quite importand for Skyblock to regain it's players.
