I'm really confused why people are so Informal ingame and on their mod app they use all this formal lang. Why not just speak how you normally do? To be honest if it was my server I would only accept people who show their true colors in their mod application. Please don't slam me for this, I understand if you do. Its just a question I'm confused about. Thanks!!! paps
It is so theu sound more mature I guess. Ingame slang is used for convenience. Sent from my SM-T560 using Tapatalk
Thanks. But I still think ingame they use all this silly chat and talk about weird stuff (NOT ALL PEOPLE) were as in the app they are so mature
I just posted my mod app and tbh I kinda used both informal and formal so yh XD Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's the same reason why you'd never swear and use text chat on your resume. It's meant to be formal and make you look good.
I know what you're trying to say here, and in some cases you're right. Many people that are completely immature in-game and on the forums try to cover that up with a fabulously written application. However, the majority at least of those accepted understand the difference between being immature in public and just having a good time with friends. It's alright to have a laugh in-game every once in a while; moderators don't have to be formal 24/7. The reason people are so formal on their applications is because the whole application system is designed to be more formal so that those in charge of the promotions can truly see what moderators-to-be are capable of. Applications are basically a direct line of communication between those applying and those reviewing the applications; it just makes the most sense to remain as professional as possible in the application out of respect and common sense.
Thank you so much. The detailed descripition really did help me understand this more. Thanks again Can we please lock this? I now understand what it means
Everyone has a unique personality. We all have different versions of ourselves and how we act. The way you act at home and around friends is different compared to the way you act at work. Now that I think of it, judging mod applicants based on their goofy behavior in game is a tad unfair. Obviously we all have our goofy moment, immature moments, and our playful moments. Skyblock is a game server, so you will find that people on Skyblock will have more of those moments. Players are more likely to act differently and more childishly on a game server than they are irl living their normal lives. This is because we see "game" and we associate that word with "fun." therefore we are naturally going to act more goofy when playing the game. If you haven't noted, even our moderators do that from time to time. Anyways, I went on a huge tangent. Let me wrap things up backwards. We associate game with fun, therefore we act more childish when playing on a game server. Its unfair to judge applicants unworthy because they act silly sometimes and are playful. Mod applications are more formal, and tend to be an accurate representation of how that player will behave if given the opportunity to be mod. They are more formal because that is how seriously the player may or may not intend to take the job. Random blurb: this is why I am giving some mod applicants that would be deemed unworthy, a chance to become a moderator on a server that I own. I am putting my theory to a test.
I Understand this, but people do these formal mod apps and then just sorta act silly when they just applied for mod. Also, people do this: Respectful: blah blah blah... ect. and then in game they are not respectful.
