I see your point, though I still think as it is online, it is hard to convey a certain tone of voice and a mod could take that phrase the same way you listed above, but they could also take both of the phrases the other way completely and seem them both as polite and curious. Just my thoughts, that's all.
How can you get mad at a mod who is always joking around or calling you hun or saying they understand your frustration and that they will try to help you? They are here to not only enforce rules but to make this place welcoming, and we chose them to do those things for us. Not everyone will get along...particularly if a person feels they have been unfairly treated in some way, players and mods alike. Resentment builds up. The staff should pay attention when threads like these keep popping up regarding various matters. Skyblock is dead? x57 threads? That means they are asking if there is anything that can be done to attract more people or they want new things added to keep existing players here. Mean/unfair mods? x46 threads? That means they want to be unbanned and that you have to try to be more consistent in the way you dole out punishments and never be mean or unfair when dealing with the community. However, we all have bad days... but we should all try to avoid the forums on those days lol. Won't always happen, but let's be more understanding with each other when players/mods slip up. Put yourself in other people's shoes sometimes. Talk to others the way you want to be spoken to. State your grievances impartially, chose your wording wisely. Be professional. Apologize when you know you should. My two cents: I was crazy floored by how blaq remained calm in some difficult situations. I would have totally lost it if spoken to the way he was. I found him to be very professional in some situations. I want blaq back. I think Sean is needed desperately on these forums and will eventually return, though it might depend on his not being so honest in public anymore lol. Cyp doesn't strike me as a fool, he just acts possibly "too" swiftly/harshly at times. Emerald needs to learn from this whole situation and adjust accordingly. If he doesn't, he will eventually lose his position, and that would be a loss to these forums because he is very active. Pile is an asset wherever she plays, I don't doubt that for a second. She gets things done. I wish she were on the team but sheee nooo lisssssten...
I am greatful for all this input. I was hoping this thread would open an opportunity for us to collaborate and listen to other's views. The more input, the better;the better we understand each other and what is going on. P.S.: anyone wanna share virtual popcorn? That's why I made a mods are not-mean thread. If you want, I can turn your two cents into a dollar.
I always believed the egg came first. Natural selection and mutations created le chicken. People actually took the time to figure it out aha. The funny thing is, and I know a certain person always gets mad hearing this but its pretty much true. What you don't see is how things run back stage. Events and issues you see are the end result. Why do certain trial mods get picked on when their actions were ok'd by another staff? Why do other mods get called inactive when they are being active in some way on the team? Why do people think they understand everything when they only see one side. Blaq may have been level headed on the outside but hell there were things you probably would have seen that could have changed your mind real quick. Think Pile is perfect on this team? You really feel like a whole staff team would accept someone coming in and trying to change things without knowing how we do things and traditions? No offense to Pile, she does her job well. I cannot speak for every staff because I am my own staff. I believe in tough love, and I don't dislike any player unless they have beef with me. I have to make tough calls and controversial decisions often and there are a lot of things backstage I do that you will most likely never see. If i'm hated, so be it. If they hate that I punish them for doing things they shouldn't? So be it. Players who know me well know that if they are in the right I will stand up for them because that's what Sean would do.
When issues spur up with the staff.... Guess you could call it a... Staff infection Jk. In all seriousness though, we need to try and be more supportive of each other. The anger between the staff and the players needs to calm down, I legit feel like my laptop is about to catch fire just seeing the mean mod related posts. Look, the staff are here to try their best to help the community. Their job is tough as is. Yes, there may be some unsightly mods, but that doesn't justify ranting on them. I know some people are pessimistic, but everyone needs to at least have some optimism. The negativity I have been seeing lately is just too much. We need to be supportive of those who help us. And mods should be professional and do their best to help the community and server. We the players are like a herd of sheep, here to have fun and enjoy the game. The moderators and staff are like the shepards, there to protect up and watch over us. What good are we doing if we headbutt those who are helping us? What good are we doing when we bite the hand that protects us? And look, if you cant handle criticism, then it is way past time to pull your britches up and learn from it. Just stop it with these "moderators are mean" threads. Some of us just need to grow up and quit being a sissy wimp.
I know mods can make it so they don't show up as online, but let the community see when you are here and no one would call you inactive again. Just saying. Most of us know some mods spend more time in game than on forums and that both types of mods are needed around here, but we also know who isn't around much. I have to add, however, that the past few months I've seen a major increase in the amount of mods that are online any given time, good on you guys for that. The only thing I know about how things happen backstage is that some are friends and kind to each other, some aren't and others stay quiet cuz they are super smart. The whole mod team should be a "clique", not divided. You need to respect and support each other and you don't. I know this from reading threads. As regards Blaq...whatever happens behind the scenes, only you are privy to... but the guy was professional and calm in situations where he could have taken things personally and gotten angry and rude, which I would have probably done in his position. I was very impressed and wish more mods were like him in that respect. And yes, I believe Pile would solve a lot of problems if she were part of the team and had the freedom and support to do so. I know she can be as blunt as Sean but I've also seen her, like Sean and even Blaq, be the voice of reason while chaos was going on in threads, and I've seen her actually make things happen that improved the forums. See, I don't believe in tough love, especially in a community where most of the players are in their early teens. This is their game, their free-time...it would be nice to see understanding, consistency and professionalism here particularly when difficult decisions regarding rules need to be made. Let life teach them tough love, not Minecraft.
basically people are getting them self in trouble and they are blaming the mods instead of taking responsibility for there actions ect.
Let's just put it this way. Half of what goes onto many tmod's applications are bullshit. (e.g. emerald)
After reading through this thread I'm on my phone and too lazy to quote it I agree with different things said Like yoshi and noc and signing kicks and how if you ask who kicked you mods just assume it's starting trouble because many of them lack an open mindset and are set in their own thinking patterns. Also agreeing with Krissy on behind the scenes s*** regarding blaq and pile. If you got on a certain side of blaqs or did something he didn't like there was a different side. Along with imo pile has no idea how to manage things in a high position of authority. Can't speak how her moderating skills are And at original poster. This is why some threads are more on calling people out. But if it's too head on it can get deleted... Mai ... so you have to stick to generalities. But if it's a thread about moderators and b****ing about it. The mods know what things said apply to them or even if they are included in the group talked about
true, if it is a thread solely for bashing mods, then of course it is going to be removed. That's why I made this thread, it isn't to bash any particular person. I made it in the hopes that we can gain understand by having a community "pow-wow" so to speak.
