I was only really using applications as an example because that's the place where this problem mostly occurs, but this is for all Forums.

Support, I'm pretty sure I created a suggestion thread like this already.

    Thanks.
I don't get what you're saying. This suggestion is to just remove the ability to rate on a thread after its been locked by a moderator. When people request a lock, they usually don't want anything to do with the thread until they might request an unlock.

I love suggestions like these without any idea how xenforo works or any guide or idea on how to accomplish this request.

How do you suppose they can do just magically make this happen? Do you have a link to a possible addon or did you just have this idea and thought it was possible?

Anyone can suggest anything. If it's ridiculous, people will let him/her know. If it's a good idea, people will support it. The capabilities of xenforo should come after that. Implementation is the job of the administration; if Cyp deems something impossible, then that's that. But, worrying about this last part shouldn't prevent players from putting forth suggestions. I'd rather hear a terribly unfeasible suggestion than miss out on a truly helpful one.

Not every player knows about XenForo, but if they want to suggest something then all suggestions are welcome. What you said is pretty rude and disrespectful. This player wants to help out our forums, and I respect that.

If this was possible I would say support, but as it is most likely not possible I am saying neutral.

I've worked with XenForo for quite a long time, and I've been looking into it recently and I've not found a way to allow this to happen (unless you count, making a new forum for achieves. For example: You can rate an application in "[.NET] Mod Apps", but you can't in "Denied Apps" because it's disabled in that forum).

I also agree with Pile in some ways.

I maybe very wrong but lets give it a stab.
If you wish to stop people from rating posts in a certain section you can by disabling them.
Once you move a thread into that section from a section that had ratings the ratings disappear and it comes off a players total.

Now say if you lock the thread. There is no option for ratings to be disabled just by this action.
Essentially you have suggested something to think about however no solution.

I think people suggest more based on they think up an idea and not sure if it can be done but it would be nice if it worked. It is people with knowledge who can take the suggestion and see if theres a way.

Sorry I was so short. I most definitely wasn't trying to come off as rude as I did. lol
I think I read this reply and I got perturbed:
What Krissy said is true. Disabling the ratings in let's say one of the archives would remove all the ratings when moved there and that's not the goal.

Could potentially code something to hide the ratings bar once the thread is locked. But I'm not entirely sure it would work and you wouldn't be able to see the ratings given or remove ratings you had given should you want to because the bar would be removed.

    So ya, I don't know.
