Hey everyone, I need your input. If any of you have visited my island (/visit iTestify), you know I have that little trade shop on the second floor of my house. When you shop at a trade shop, what kind of items do you usually shop for? I want to actually move stock and make money, not just have it sit there to look pretty. Also, what are some things you've noticed are in demand recently? I'd appreciate everyone's feedback, from a greenie's perspective to a donor. Thanks!
I think it just depends on everyone's current builds on what they're buying. Elmo just spent his soul on a ton of Netherrack and coal. xD
Lol. He was buying obsidian too, I gave him all the obsidian on Psycho's account I just know I've seen a lot of requests for wool, coal, and logs, among some other things and I wanted input from everyone Inventory is always changing based on the clientele's needs so I just wanted to know what items to sell to get some loyal customers and get the name out there the way skyshop and few others have done. Obviously I won't be as extensive but still. I think I'm taking this way too literal but I'm bored and I miss running a shop lol.
Stay stocked on wood Logs. Oak, Dark Oak and Spruce for sure. I constantly see those being asked for in chat; people running out and such. When I had my shop up and running on my actual account, the biggest sellers were Diamond Picks, Iron and Wool. I also sold stacks of Flowers for a stack a piece. People making banners would buy them for the dyes and such.
How'd you get the flowers? I have some dyes now but I don't have a way to restock. I'm currently making a tree farm now for the logs.
I'd say most wood logs are popular, as well as iron, diamonds, etc. Obsidian, Stone & Cobble, Ice and Snow Blocks are decent sellers. Wool is also quite popular if you're selling for the right price
I will typically buy logs... that's actually all that I have been buying of late from tradeshops lol. um, if it's possible, I also buy glowstone and glass, but other then that, I typically buy logs. I believe that iron, diamonds, and redstone sales are very popular, oooh, spawners too definitely spawners.
That's the goal, but I'm nowhere near that point right now. I have to start as a Walmart, then move up to Target, etc etc.
I think getting your name out there is equally as important as stocking up. I for one haven't heard of your shop! But might be because we're in relatively opposite timezones. Or I just missed out because I avoid chat when it scrolls faster than a certain speed due to spam. Or just over saturation of people talking. Anyway, some of your profits might be from people who don't know about your shop, my two cents. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree. And yes, I know OF you, but I don't I've really had the chance to meet you, pleasure. I try not to be overly spammy with my advertising. I mostly try to target those in chat who call out for a specific item, or ask if anyone has a trade shop. I'll occasionally send out a pretty, colorful message but nothing to annoying. And my shop is relatively new and not completely stocked yet either, so I'm sure the more I play and get the word out, the more people will refer back to me.
Skyshop is always trying to be New Player Oriented. Some tips to run a successful tradeshop below: Basics: Wood logs, Wool, and Stone. Always keep these in stock. Other useful things: ice, obsidian, charcoal, redstone, grass, diamonds, iron ingots, glass, snow Limit yourself: don't try to sell everything, mostly it's a waste of time. Make the time you spend on the server to restock useful and efficient. Also save yourself from the headaches of island lag. Honest Prices: Don't feel like you have to compete. Price things based on the time and effort it takes you to get them so you know you are really making a profit. Also don't scalp other players. User Friendly: Make things super easy to find, group similar things together, have a very prominent ATM if you will use one. Advertize Frequently: Only once per chat page and do not skip any opportunity to post a shout out to your island whenever anyone asks for a tradeshop. Extras: Add signs to teach players to avoid the several tradeshops glitches. Things that never sell: Food, armor, potions, books, plants, mob drops Your shop is small, which means it should be quite manageable. The space is small, but it feels open and inviting. I suggest you forget about selling food, and then reorganize a couple of the items so they are grouped together. For example, put the redstone and piston tradeshops next to each other. Also move the leaves over by the wood logs. Follow the tips and you should have no problem running a succesful shop. Good luck!
This isn't an offtopic thread, keep on topic. I would say I am always on the look out for wool shops and wood shops. Materials that are common in my builds that I usually cannot be bothered getting myself
Smooth stone, cobble, cheap red sand, and netherrack are what I'm trying to stock up on currently. Also obsidian is good Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
Thanks for all the input everyone! I've noticed that my sales have gone up substantially with me playing more, and focusing on a lot on selling the different woods, iron, and obsidian. My other miscellaneous things sell too, I just haven't had a chance to stock those up. Yeah, I realize that mob drops and food are essentially worthless to sell, so I've abandoned trying to stock those. I'm continuing to gather things and will eventually have a fully stocked shop. I appreciate all of this!
What I like to sell is short order, if I have the product and it is being asked for, I will sell it for a nice cost. Sometimes when I am feeling nice if it is an easily obtainable I will give it to the player, ie mushroom blocks, for either cost or free.
