these days most of them just want power, not all, but most It didn't used to be like this, but most of the applicants and current mods, like Quietus said, are only in it for the social status. Honestly, I can't name a single mod who I think just wants to help, besides maybe Wilbo or Sean. They all applied to be in a position of power and to actually be recognized, yet again like Jess said, because they only bit of power and popularity they could ever get is on a minecraft server. Harsh, but true.
I don't know about everyone, but someone that is serious about applying wants to help the community. Someone who applies is dedicated to actually helping and caring for our community
Someone who wants to help the community should go outside and actually do something. Not type a few words into a pixel game. Dedication means being committed to a purpose. There is no purpose in being moderator on this server. There are several ways of being serious and dedicated and sincere and helpful and caring. This server just isn't one. Those who think it is, simply don't know anything, and/or can't achieve anything.
what I feel most mods or applyers are doing it for now I can apply and I don't give a s*** about the server lol.
Honestly, when I first started in 2013, a couple of mods made me want to become one, however I never had the time or ability. When I applied more that a year ago, I wanted to help out on the server more than telling people how to run commands and what to do. I honestly didn't care about only getting commands or friends or whatever some people want.
You're right, of course I had more reasons, but I'm not going to waste my time listing them all. However, whatever reasons you have listed in you mind are most likely not the same ones I'm thinking of.
love this and I love Akrill Regarding the rest of what you said, dolpinmilk I agree that they have an easier time for sure and agree with your statements about Cyp, but I still think moderators will not stand up to him/show power
Uh... I never said we had it hard like rocks were smashing on us..? We mute, kick, and ban people all the time. Griefing is still a thing, people are trust griefed all the time. That was taken away over what, two years ago? I highly doubt you were kicked five minutes later. That's honestly the understatement of the year. We're not scared of Cyp -- where did you get that from? We try to eliminate the toxicity, but we run into some road bumps. We do ban people... I love Akrill, too. Unfortunately, we cannot ban people for that reason because we would be staff reported and filed as abusive. Also, that's not very respectful. Really? You don't even know what we do, yet you're going to sit there and tell us we suck? That's honestly low for a person like you.
Being a mod back then (in my case 2014) was a lot more work. We had to keep track of /warp trade, We had to destroy endless amounts of bridges that went on through multiple islands all in different directions. But the thing is, back then we were allowed to permanently ban players for things like that. We weren't on a tight leash where we can only temp-ban to keep player count. We perm banned and even denied multiple appeals. If you broke a rule and we thought you didn't deserve an unban, that was it. You were done. But now, Mod's can't do as much, they are on a ban guide and only allowed to perm ban if it's serious and it hardly ever sticks. Back then there was trust in the staff team, maybe not as much as there was 2012-2013 but there was still trust. Now it's like Cyp doesn't even want a team of mods because he can't trust them. But even with such restrictions, current mods are still at least trying. It doesn't matter if they succeed in keeping a toxic player banned, It matters that they tried at all. Many mods refuse to deal with Stel because nothing sticks but some will still go through the trouble. Despite all her Dox threats, Bribes, and attacks, they still try. Just because the work load is different, doesn't mean we should appreciate them any less. also I agree Akrill is a g
i was tagged so i thought i'd reply. I'm the younget mod on the team at the moment. You're only promoted if you prove you can handle being mod. You have to show you're mature. Theoretically, all mods are mature in one way or another. I admit that I am really immature sometimes, but being mod isn't fun if you can't be yourself. I'm mature when I have to, but just be myself when I don't have to. This goes for all mods. Think of it as the saying "don't judge a book by its cover". Just change it to "don't judge a mod by their age". Take Emerald for example. I talk to him a lot, and we're usually not acting very mature when we talk to each other. It's not a bad thing though. Let's say I wasn't a mod but Emerald was. We still fool around with each other and joke. But then on my application, he could say I'm immature and then put immature things I said in chat as a joke. He could then say it's because I'm too young to be a mod and too immature. People in general are allowed to relax and have some fun. EDIT: a wise drink brought to my attention that you said usually. still keeping my facts the same tho
You aren't staff because you want to help people. If you wanted to help people, you would actually help them. Ergo,
you're contradicting yourself because it's not like Agent is particularly mature or anything. She has the mental capabilities of a ten year-old. Oh wait-
