Most of you will instantly no support because you think RAM is everything but here's an simple explanation on why I'm suggesting this: This server uses 24GB of RAM. More memory can cause GCs (garbage collections) (google it) to use more CPU than needed so I am suggesting we allocate less RAM to NET. The server doesn't even use 16GB of RAM most of the time:
It really depends on what the cause of lag is. Generally speaking, more RAM is better. All modern OSes have good garbage collecting algorithms and if there is a surplus of RAM, then simply garbage collecting is not an issue. Furthermore, the way that CPU technology has advanced the last few years, its hardly the CPU that's the bottleneck, it's more likely the RAM or IO Eg. HDDs. Lastly, you've gotta remember that Skyblock.NET is a 500 slot server, and needs to provsision for such. When only 50% of the RAM is used with 250/500 players online means that the amount of RAM is infact, perfect for the server.
I just wish that .org was playable (was getting maybe 2 minutes of chat and general delay today) and that .net didn't have the lagspikes it does. What could be causing them?
