This suggestion is to make a restricted user group. The purpose of this group is to move people there who should be forum banned but are given the chance to appeal. This means they don't have to make an alt.
This new user group will not have the permissions of a normal user, rather, they will be blocked from posting in all sections except for: Appeals (All) and In-game reports (they can't post in staff reports).

All their messages will require a moderators approval before normal players can see it. This will prevent them from going on to profiles and talking there. Their rating perms will also be removed in this state. They may set their own status to something like "I am restricted" but that is all they may do. They are allowed to appeal and basically get unbanned if the banning moderator sees fit.

Also, this would change things slightly, where if you are forum banned, that might mean you are not allowed to appeal.

Please post your thoughts on any part of this process. I would especially value the input of Sean so he can tell me how long this would take to set up.

This sounds better than the current solution. On my previous forum ban(different account) I was confused as to why I was banned, and had to wait at least 24 hours to even know why. Support :3

Bump because this is a good idea. This is possible as well with user group promotions. Say a user is given x amount of warning points and is banned for a certain amount of time. Using user group promotions, when a user is given x amount of warning points they will be automatically moved into the 'restricted group' with the user group promotions. They could also only be put into this group while they are at the certain amount of warning points, when they expire they can be moved back into the normal registered group.

I actually wanted something like this a while back, but I never made a suggestion because I was too lazy to lmao. But support, it would actually possibly prevent appeal alts, too. Pretty sure it's possible so I'd love this to be added.

Edit: No support. People are banned on forums for a reason and I think they should keep that restriction. ( :

Support. I think that this would be very useful for people who get banned.

Reiterating what I've said earlier; I looked into the suggestion and it is possible to create a user promotion when a user is banned. This means that when a user is banned there is a group promotion that would automatically move the banned user into the restricted group. Cyp would have to set up the permissions for the restricted group where the user can only view forums and only post in the report/forum ban appeals section.

Support. This will be easier than having to ban a lot of appealing alts and will stop people from posting outside of the appeals section.

I know this isn't going to be popular but I don't think this is a good idea(please hear me out). While I can agree I hate alternate accounts more than anyone they do help to contribute to the number of members that site has, banned or not. This is important when it comes to google searches and ADSense the number of members shows activity and size of the site and help to keep searches for the site at the top of the list as well as helping to fund the site with ADSense.
So I'm gonna have to say no to this.
(it also defeats the purpose of a ban)

Would just create more work for the staff, and I don't know how many people are banned out there and if one of them tries to post where would it go? The means for a ban is to restrict them from most things until their time is done. Im going to say No Support.
