I'd prefer if more than one mod answers, if that's ok.

 

We can't tell if a player has their settings so only people they follow can post on their profile. It's not abuse of power; we just don't know

 

Post your status that your profile is private
There isn't an official way because mods are given that privilege and can post on profiles that are locked. We will post important things, but if you don't want us posting, you could just let us know like that
