You were one of the voices of reason in a sea of *expletives* this morning, which made me want to check your page out, and found your application in the process. We are in desperate need of more mods who know how to deal with issues and people in a fair and professional manner and I think you might fit that bill nicely. You have my support, good luck.

No problem, man. No need to apologize. Lately I've been more active with my alternative account "FakeModerator". Kind of pointless when trying to achieve something on another account. I'll get more active on my main again. Hahah
Thank you for pointing it out, however. Didn't pay attention to that relatively crucial detail.
It's indeed the way things are supposed to be handled and dealt with. I did nothing special, however. Thank you so much for the appreciation.

EDIT: I like cookies and cream.

Well I am more excited than a hungry baby in a Hooters. It has been over a month since I was last able to do a review and the applications have certainly been piling up. It seems like every time Moderators get promoted suddenly everyone remembers to bump their thread. I call this phenomenon the "Menstrapp Cycle".

Let's get down to business, Mr. Trump.

    This is starting well...

Remove this entire preface. Why would you open a job application by mentioning you were fired? o_O That makes less sense than a Novocaine milkshake and may actually poison your readers.

"Stop talking about change: JUST DO IT."
-- Abraham Lincoln, Epic Rap Battles of History

You don't have to give excuses for your writing style. Or if you are really set on doing this try to make it more positive: "I'm bringing back the old style of essay applications-- I feel like that's a better way to describe myself".

» AND NOW: THE APPLICATION «
Nice to meet you, Pity. Your name reminds me of something but I can't put a finger on it...

+1 for a correct timezone. So many people fail this question harder than Betsy DeVos on public education.

If you did that in reverse it would be the 1940s all over again. :t

    Good LORD. Wow, +1.

The question is about capturing evidence-- don't be that guy that constantly talks about how important he used to be. Remove mentions of "when I was a Mod".

MY FAVORITE PART. One moment while I get a drink...

Alright, drink in hand and some mood music playing. Let's do this. PROCEED!

    Mmm... filler.

Squinting at "mature guy who likes to mess around". Can you rephrase this in a way that doesn't sound like an oxymoron? We all understand about the need to act irresponsible now and then. But is it really your goal in a job application to make sure everyone knows you mess around?

If that's your "thing" then go for it. Just making sure you really meant to say it that way, sir.

    "Working with people"
    "[Working] alone is difficult"
"I work with younger, older people"
    "Law studies in Berlin"
♫ One of these things is not like the others. ♪

The intent of your paragraph seems to be how much you enjoy working with a group. Throwing in law studies is a bit of a sidestep away from the focus.* Can you rephrase slightly? "My future career is going to be working with people in difficult legal situations. This is excellent because I truly like working with a group; going alone is [a] difficult path..."

*These reviews are hot garbage on a stick. Feel free to ignore me on any subject.

    Sold! Supporting this application.

OK. You're a good person. I can see that.

But why are you good... for this job? You're writing a very nice autobiography here. How does any of this make you the best choice for Moderator? This is a job application! Can you throw in a few lines like "This makes me uniquely well suited to handling player complaints"?

You said the exact same thing twice, but the second time around you made it relevant for the job you're applying for. Both of these paragraphs talk about working with others, handling problems and dealing with people... but only one of them matters to an application.

This second paragraph should be kept. You are explaining why your particular skills work well online, for the job you're applying to get. While the first half of this post is very well written it is almost entirely popcorn filler. You're a great guy and that's wonderful: Why are you posting in the applications forum...?

    AngryFace.jpg
Don't contradict yourself in your own application! What point are you trying to make? "I have great qualities but they don't matter"?

Don't get me wrong, Mr. Pity: I completely agree with the "attitude first and common sense" approach to most situations. But that isn't how you've written your application. From the very start this post has been about working with others, being on a team, handling people, talking to players, etc. But at the end you take an abrupt ride on the Sidetrack Railroad.

Honestly it probably won't matter. You sound intelligent and articulate your thoughts in an easy to read way. But as a job application the focus of your post is all over the place. You even bring that up with "To conclude this very messy application" -- you know how unfocused this is.

    +1?

For the love of spicy wienerschnitzel: WHEN? When are you available for those 3 hours, sir? Are you volunteering for the midnight-to-3am shift? Or are you more of a noon-to-2pm kind of person?

It is hard to fit you into a schedule without knowing your normal logon times. Please post a schedule.

 Cut this back to just "I first joined Skyblock around July of 2012". Why are you bringing up how inactive you are in your own job application??

    CitationNeeded.png

    SpitTake.jpg
    Unexpected self-inflicted gunshot injury.

Remove that. You do not get extra credit for brutal honesty-- talking about how bad you were at the job is not a good way to be re-hired. Even if you are a better person these days why would you bring up the past?

Cool story. None of this is "Do you have experience?"-- Put this in the correct part of the application, please.

Change this to "Yes". This is not some sort of guessing game, sir: The requirements are very clearly written (click). Other people can't make personal judgment calls about this topic.

Just to clarify: Your first drafts had things that were not true...? Rephrase or remove, please.

    Same to you, Mr. Pity.

Well that application was rather fun to go through. A bit of a problem with focus and self-depreciation but you write very well-- better than I do (and certainly in more languages). Best of luck to you in the future.
