so what /skychat would do is people that want to advertise would type /skychat and advertise it there. so people that actually WANT to buy stuff can type /skychat to see what people are selling. this would make a massive reduce in spam and stuff like that.

    opinions below :)

Seems like a good idea, but moderators would also have to moderate a 3rd chat, which makes our job way harder since the player can be inappropriate, advertise servers, bypass filter, etc. We already moderate global and private message :)

    This is a great idea
Maybe on a moderators screen it just appears as if it's just a normal chat but says [skychat]

    support

    Edit: Changed to neutral

Yes, but it would be blowing up with messages from global, private, and "skychat"

Maybe, but wouldn't it basically be the same considering people already try to sell stuff through global chat? :p

The problem is some people would want to chat and sell/buy things simultaneously, so this wouldn't really work. Also I don't really think that any person would want to go on a chat specifically just for people spamming advertisements. I don't know, that's just me

You commented on the matter bellow ^that^ post, yes, but I still disagree.

I do not see how adding /skychat and then combining them into one global chat (for mods) poses any problems. Splitting the two chats does not create more messages. You could have a little [SC] [GC] in front of each message respectively representing the chat. I don't see mods, except some sneaky buggers, watching private1 messages all the time anyways.

The whole reason of advertising is that people who DON'T want to see it SEE it.

At first it may sound like a good idea, but as you can tell by reading the already posted posts: It has its flaws...

This is a good idea too, but...

Ok, let's say you want to advertise your shop or you want to buy something (like... iron ingots or something like that? Something you can't buy at /warp trade that is legal...), then I'd find it pretty useful. You can simply go to the other chat where you can find what you need.

The basic idea is - as I already said - good, but it has a lot of flaws so I would think about it a bit more.

    Some brainstorming:
-You can turn off the "advertising chat" with a command, like you can set the chat to "show only commands" in the Minecraft options.
    -Seperate Mods for advertising chat
-/msg list (for Mods): You can see who the last players were you were chatting with. For example: Mod gets a message from Player A, tries to help him, and while he's helping Player B is asking for help. The Mod replies "Wait a second" and goes on helping Player A. After he helped player A he can type /msg list and see Player B, now he can help Player B. If there are more Players (5? 10?), then this could be helpful.

But these are just a few ideas, I don't know if they're good. Like I said: "Brainstorm".

What the hell is the point in it being a private message then?

If you can't handle that someone is spamming advertisements for their shop just /ignore them or if they're really spam them just report them to a moderator. People have been advertising in public chat for a long time and it's not really a problem. /ignore them if you can't handle it.
