So in forums culture there are people who would bump old threads with pointless comments or, say in someone elses thread, ask for support once the thread has long been dead. In this fashion gravedigging or necroposting is a rule reserved for people who bump threads with useless comments irrelevant to the main topic on threads where the last comment was a month ago. It is a useful rule to have due to controlling to some degree post farming, but the rule itself is not exactly reflecting the stance this server has due to it being a mineverse rule. I don't agree with removing it completely.
So in other words, you can ignore the rule if you have something pertinent and newsworthy to add to that old thread, right? Just asking because I used to get into that Situation where I created a new thread although I thought it would be much more effective to add to the related old thread...
Discussion threads, introduction, suggestions and threads in the support section can be bumped at any time so long as it relates to the original post. Off-topic threads we tend not to want people to bump them. Personally I don't punish anyone for necro-posting. I review the post and if it is relevant I keep it, if not, remove it. I don't want to say "you can break this rule" then have other mods punishing for it. For now, until Sean changes the rule, it would be best to not bump any thread apart from any support section thread, intros and, suggestions using the "keep it relevant" rule of thumb.
As long as your post on the thread is constructive and advances the thread in a unique way, you're fine and you shouldn't be punished. You should use your own judgement and sometimes it would be wiser to just make your own thread.
I disagree to this rule being removed. I see countless people posting on 2012 mod apps or 2013 where owners of the thread just stopped playing which annoyed me in the last 4-5 months.
